Ok, I’ll say it. My favorite way to cook steak is in the air fryer. Fuck cast iron. And stainless steel can go to hell.

I like instant coffee.
You disgust me.
Rekt
I prefer instant coffee.
I don't understand people who want to spend extra money and 10 minutes making a coffee just for it to taste worse than instant coffee.
I like my wine from a box, it stores better and is easier to poor.
Would unfollow, but instant espresso is a camping staple...can't hate the player ☕💜
That’s pretty extreme.
heathen.
Based and efficient. If your steak takes longer than 10 minutes, you’re cooking it wrong. Also, microwaved bacon > pan-fried. Stay mad.
Serious question. What do you set the air fryer to? I want to try it out
375F for 17 minutes for two top sirloin from Butcher Box. I’m not saying it’s the best steak I’ve ever had, but it’s consistent, takes 30 seconds to set up and clean up takes less than a minute. It’s become my go to for weekday lunches.
I also do this but make sure to use a glass air fryer. The chemicals from other non stick air fryers are really bad for you.
Do you get a crispy outer layer?
No crispy layer unfortunately
And don’t get one of these fucking things

if i could build a custom cooker it would be one based on a carbon coil incandescent lamp... i have one to warm me up and it works great and i often think about rigging it up so it switches on while horizontal over top of my steak on a grill with an aluminium tray under it
in actual fact, i totally could rig it this way, just need some bricks or something, even have the aluminium tray, only tricky part is how to make the safety switch on my carbon lamp stay on... at 900W it would totally cook a perfect steak in like 15 minutes, 7 min each side
actually, come to think of it, i could just skip the rigging part and just make a hook to hang the steak and a catcher underneath, then i just need a half-cylinder of steel or aluminium behind it to bounce the rays back
ya know, you may have incited me to do this
That grill I’ve got cooks a thick steak about 2min each side. It’s insane but not worth $2000aud
I don’t think it’s going to radiate enough heat…or it will take 30+minutes to cook
haha, yeah, nah, this carbon lamp is hot af, at under a foot away it's totally gonna cook a steak in 15 minutes
i'm pretty sure i'm saving on heating by using it, the great thing about it is it doesn't heat the air, mostly, it just shines mostly IR light on shit
That’s amazing then!
there is ovens i have seen for years that use halogens, but the carbon is way more efficient at infrared, i'm not sure why they aren't a thing...
i've been keeping myself warm with these lamps for a few years now, i'm pretty sure they have "health benefits" and are probably more efficient than those stupid red light therapy lamps
put it this way, the lamp literally looks like hot coals that never burn
As a lazy person I agree with this. The air fryer cooks better than my steel pans, I still don’t have an outside area to grill with, so the air fryer is the best tasting, fastest way to get a good steak that I have available. 400F for 8 minutes gives a crisp outside and red inside.
Also stainless steel makes shitty steak. Cast iron is great though on a grill, but I don’t have access currently. We will see if I stick with the air fryer or shift back to the grill when the basement and patio are complete.
