Sats

Do you mean the fact that nobody can read your link unless they have or create a twitter account and login...

Youtube is probably days away from following this structure. Dev's ... keep coding, an in-rush is comming.

Yes, this. Please screenshot tweets you want to share.

Exactly, links to twitter are now useless to about 90% of the people on nostr.

its a blessing

I like Rumble and Odysee

I do enjoy being able to watch linked video on these sites. When they lock the door like twitter just did, is the end of them. I want distributed and open source, or nothing... Big thanks to the devs on Nostr. It is no small thing you have done.

Fix what?

Good point. Jack didn't think that far :D

Yeah, unauthenticated access is the probem... come on Elon, 50% of twitter accounts are authenticated bots.

Fix that

If we could figure out the spam and fakery, we could build a browser plugin that parses the twitter web page and reposts each tweet to nostr. With hashes for the twitter account and each tweet, it might prevent tweet duplication and make accounts findable here on nostr.

As a few people browse twitter from the web, the browser plug-in would auto reposting tweets from the pages they browse.

It would be a one-way publishing from twitter to nostr, but at least the content would be visible without KYC.

The problem seems that if anyone can repost a tweet from a particular twitter account, there will be spammers who will fill accounts with fake messages.

Im not submitting to being sucked unto twitter's algo (even if its not a real thing) again. I deleted 3 accounts over the past 8 years and i finally learned my lesson, I can't handle it. I'm a recovering twit.

Why wouldnโ€™t proof of work fix this?

Sir

By limiting the experience to follows and whatever content they interact with.

By carefully curating who to follow.

By adding cost to reach - if you want me to read your spam, pay me and the infrastructure that gets the spam to me.

Zaps

Paid relays, gossip between relays, and shared block lists are a start.

Shared block lists is starting to sound like the mastodon model

It really has been detrimental to that network also

You can always pull from a userโ€™s chosen relays.

Web of trust works too but it creates echo chambers. Pay to post is the pure solution.

๐Ÿ˜ญ

self-moderation / community based moderation and content filtering tags like #blacklstr

what we do not need is a platform deciding on the content the user sees or does not see.

Everyone hosting everything themselves. It's the only way.

That or some sort of proof of work mechanism for having your data hosted.

Like what Tor is implementing to mitigate DDoSing, I'd imagine that'll be the most effective solution. Hope it doesn't come to pay to post

??? Hard to understand English when itโ€™s too complicatedโ€ฆ have a good day

Dunno. Can't see it

money

Log in with npub

Small amount of sats to verify digital identity

don't know, not logged in so I can't see post.

I donโ€™t use Twitter.

Twitter is the bot hellscape. Nostr fixes it with #zaps and simple mute functions.

solved at the edges

only centralized systems demand centralized solutions

just build the tools

(best thing: in nostr, everybody can build whatever tool they please)

Ainโ€™t Twitter like 80% percent bots? ๐Ÿค”

Is it any surprise Twitter went to shit after Jack left? Best way to fix this #[1]โ€‹ is for Nostr to grow and eventually take the demand away from Twitter

Donโ€™t think thatโ€™s true. Mistakes will be made and learned from. Nostr growing will only help Twitter in the end. As long as they use it.

What would their incentive be to use it?

So twitter migrates to nostr & sells access to its own relays?

Could there be some kind of community informed filter mechanism that leverages AI? As we organically inform the weights by identifying problematic accounts, the AI learns to use our information to suppress bad accounts? And then each user can adjust the "squelch" on the filter however they want, whenever they want? It could be a whole class of filters that work in a similar fashion, a marketplace even, and we use them however we want, in whatever combinations and settings we want?

I use IRIS. Nothing to fix.

Look at my follow list mostly only anyway. toggle global occasionally.

Still better than twatter or any proprietary social media

Webs of trust with signed notes. It's just native...

I used to be meh about hash cash style proof of work. Since listening to nostr:nprofile1qqs0w2xeumnsfq6cuuynpaw2vjcfwacdnzwvmp59flnp3mdfez3czpspzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuum5dahx2u3wvdhk6qgkwaehxw309ahx7um5wghx7mnnv968xtn0wfnsz8rhwden5te0dehhxarj94ex2mrp0yh8wmrkwvh8xurpvdjsz8rhwden5te0dehhxarj9e3xjarrda5kuetj9eek7cmfv9kqz8nhwden5te0dehhxarj9eax2un0vejk2un0w46xjmn89e3k7mgpr4mhxue69uhkummnw3ez6ur4vgh8wetvd3hhyer9wghxuet5qy28wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ehx7um5wf5kx6pwv3jsz9nhwden5te0dehhxarj9em82mrsv4kjucm0d5q3vamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wd4hh2ar0dchxgetkqyfhwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnp0f6x2tnrduq37amnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3dwfjkccte9e3xjarrda5kutnwd9hx5cgdgvnyr recently I think it's integral to stopping spam (alongside web of trust, which is a subjective evaluation of content quality relative to the user as opposed to blanket domain reputation). Still have to build it though.

no

Can't read that without a twitter account lol twitter links are like road side litter now.

I want my Nostr client only show posts from people n-degrees from the people I follow. This should fix it. Real people donโ€™t follow spammy accounts.

That is the question, if it is not splved then nostr might become a zone of bot mayhem.

Simply by not being a company.

we can expand the protocol to rank each other in trust scores, so we can filter for: "only show keys/posts who are ranked >x by keys that I rank >y".

this will scale dunbars number to the whole planet.

scoring posts/keys in numbers x/100 is also a way better value metric than just likes/follows.

the hustle of properly ranking other keys is incentivised, because if you are known to give accurate scorings, you get higher scores yourself.

I don't have a Twitter account. I can no longer see the tweets. It says open account. ๐Ÿซค

Web of trust? Social filters?

By being an open platform. Stable order can *only* come from chaos. It's how humans evolved from soup, why central banking is evil, why true decentralization is necessary, why good companies always pop up in a free market.

We might choose many different and creative client-side or self hosted filtering algorithms and the best *for you* is bound to exist, you just have to find it.

Diversity and competition , relays and clients can try things and follow visions freely without having the responsibility of the network that a centralized company have.

Multiple different solutions can co exists while keeping a network effect together.

It will be like the fediverse where you have relays that having approval processes, email verification, capatchas. Stuff like that. Paid relays will never work people won't use them.
