What's your average daily phone screen time?
Discussion
Yes.
just over 7 hours including music and nav
🫣😂
Down from last week!
Some of this is work, but not great
If I didn’t take a lot of photos on any given day, 2 hours. Computer screen tho.. ☠️
2h 20m
Too much
Ask my relays 😅
~ 3 hours, way too much
25 hours
Today? Terrible because I’m trapped at home and becoming ill.
What’s yours?
I spend 2-3 hours on my mobile, 2-4 hours on computers depending on work, and it's wild that half the day I'm awake, I'm looking at a screen, which is probably the same for others too
3 minutes
Tree fiddy
Higher than the highest mountain or lower than the lowest valley, no in-between lol
8 hours.
I have questions now..
Your question made me delve in a little bit to the screentime stats and something is off because, for example, today I have not spent anywhere near this much time on either messages or signal, so now I am questioning all the data in there.
Also, what does screen time mean?
How is it measured?
Does it track your eyes and when you are looking at the screen?
As I scroll through the times it is showing me, most of them do not seem accurate at all 🤔
My guess is that the stats are accurate and you underestimate how much time you spend in these apps.
That's at least how it was for me when I started looking.
I know I spend more time than I think, as many times I’ve looked up from my phone and been shocked at the time.
That said, I def hadn’t spent close to an hour on Signal this morning when it showed that.
Also still wondering how it measures time spent.. is it tracking our eyeballs on the screen, or do you have any idea?
I assume whatever app is foregrounded is counted as active use if the screen is unlocked, so if your habit includes writing someone back and putting your phone on the counter unlocked it will probably count (until your device auto-locks). That might explain some extra time.
There is no eye tracking or anything of that sort btw, and if you want to learn about how some of this stuff works this might be an entry point: https://stackoverflow.com/a/8516056
Thanks for this. I’m on iPhone, will check if it still applies
Ohhh yes, that explains it! I have it set to never auto-lock for some reason, so thank goodness, I knew I didn’t spend as much time as it was showing 😂😅
Gonna change that now and see what the damages are the next few days.
backup question? 🙏
2 hours top when I'm bored.
I usually go for 1 hour a day, most of which is me on the toilet scrolling through nostr or YouTube
I use mobile exclusively for answering wife's (desperate) calls and pay with sats for my beers/groceries.
The rest is done on desktop.
“Only” like 4 hours
Hit the 69th minute on this note
I don’t even wanna look
my pc screen time is more unhealthy than my phone's tbh
A lot
So I went to have a look...
On battery usage per app basis it looked fine:

So I went to check on use time tab...

Suddenly Amethyst is close to the bottom, overtaken by shitloads of processes that I either don't use and I'm not aware that they even being run... Live wallpaper selector? Why would I choose to run it? Or ubiquitous manager service? WTF is that?
It makes me wanna finally take the plunge and degoogle myself...
Just going to toss in, if you use the brave browser no ad on YouTube and it can play in the background
I've always wondered how far people scroll on their phone. Would be a neat metric to track.
More than I'm comfortable to admit!
Too much 😬
1 hour. Strictly for watching porn.
3 hours ans 13 minutes.
Knowing time is the scarcest resource and that Bitcoiners understand this, it’s too embarrassing to tell, even to myself.
Every time I do something else, I tell myself I’m a moron.
A but like when I see the dawn: I whisper I should do that every morning.
Meanwhile, I’ve been walking those 10K steps in nature for five days in a row now and today is going to be the sixth. Let’s go!
GM live ☀️ 💜

probably zero but on the pc a lot
Breaking records at the moment…8h 45m average…🫣 Schändlich…I also have auto lock on after 10 seconds. I’m mainly reading and watching YouTube as I’m on bed rest suffering from Hyperemesis gravidarum.🤰🤢 Anyone got recommendations for what to read/watch please? 🫠
Too much
These sorts of questions always give me bad feels because it means that there are people with jobs that don't involve staring at screens all day and night.
Like, what if you're a Kotlin or PWA dev, or testing apps on your phone, or something? Then it's probably like 4+ hours/day, and you take breaks by looking at your laptop monitor. 😅

4h30 daily average, but that amount says nothing about the quality of that time spent
3 hours 2 minutes. And literally all of it is spent on Nostr 🧡 (Yes, I don’t answer my messages from people I know personally 🤣)
2:40
😩
Way too long.
90min maybe
too much, but based on what i see among the public, WAY less than average. those poor bastards
hmm... #thosepoorbastards
i like it
2h 40min.
Most used apps are typically YouTube & Messages.
Screen time was way higher when I had FB, TW, & Insta on my phone.
80%
52 minutes: no more, no less🤔
too much :(
between phone screen time and work screen time 14 h.
A lot these days. More than I used too. Exploring the Bitcoin-Rabbithole pretty much exclusively.
Does the second point justify the first?
Too much
My phone doesnt track this... I uninstalled this spyware
