On a scale of 1 to 10, how annoyed are you with nostr:nprofile1qyc8wumn8ghj7cmd89jh5at9x4snqvpsvgcnqun6wscrx7tj0fkrjttgv9mx2m3wv4nkwum5wghxxmmdqyd8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnnw4jx7cmpwfkx7uewvdhk6qpqe85mms9s8ssm6vm6ztw0tdrr6j0a4l5gf2sjhw2scxpwnexmaxuqmwuetj?

1 when I’m looking at my normal feed. 10 when I’m looking at trending feeds.

I don’t even care at all

Trending is now paid/advertised feed. If buzzbot had a shitcoin option, buzzbot would be shutdown immediately. It’s only tolerated because it runs on bitcoin.

I’m here for organic social interaction and bitcoin.

The question it brings to mind is how do you find something you might like on nostr.

The problem isn't the bot, it's the fools who share any note with any message just for the chance to get a few sats

3. Will grow if it continues spamming the trending feeds

Zero. I blocked it days ago.

Allow me to say it in meme form 😂

Well said.

Ok, fair. 😅

But what’s your suggestion for surfacing good content? Please be specific. Btw, that’s what we’re trying to do.

Gm good sir 😂🫂 I actually like the idea of the trending feeds in Primal (and similar feeds in other clients), and I have seen them get better over time as your team has tweaked them. I don’t even hate the idea of Buzzbot. I just don’t like stuff like Buzzbot on trending feeds because the “engagement” that makes it show on Trending is manufactured and inauthentic. People are not engaging with the content because the content is good or interesting to them; they are only liking/reposting/etc. because it constitutes a contest entry. It just so happens that those same actions are what the Trending feeds look for to surface content. I imagine that may be intentional on the part of whoever makes these bots. Not the first time it’s happened. This time it appears more polished, I don’t think it’s any less spammy, and it feels at odds with the intended purpose of the Trending feeds.

One suggestion is to give activities like Buzzbot and other “paid engagement” posts a place to live SEPARATE FROM the Trending feeds. Maybe an “Engagement Bot Feed” or a “Paid Engagement” feed, where posts that contain certain keywords/phrases are filtered into, and leave Trending for the posts with more organic engagement.

Another suggestion is to apply a label to bot posts or posts engaging in “paid engagement” wherever they show up to alert users, similar to how ads are labeled on X.

Third suggestion is to give us a way to filter content out of our feeds by keywords, key phrases, and/or labels, to give more granular and personalized control to users.

Thanks, I appreciate the detailed reply. 🫡

> “paid engagement” posts a place to live SEPARATE FROM the Trending feeds

Sounds nice in theory, but the whole point of these engagement hacks is to show up in the main trending feed. They don't want a separate feed. They'll keep hacking until they make it to the main trending feed.

So my question still stands: how exactly do we identify good quality content? Our best approach so far is to measure engagement by real users (non-bots). I don't expect you to solve this for us, but ideas are welcome.

> label to bot posts or posts engaging in “paid engagement”

Good idea, if we can reliably identify paid engagement.

> give us a way to filter content out of our feeds

Yes, we are getting ready to deploy a feature to help with this.

Thanks again, keep the feedback coming!

Yea I was trying to give Buzzbot a little benefit of the doubt, but it absolutely is geared to hack the trending algos. The tweak you published today that mutes it based on user choice is great for making the trending feeds less noisy for those of us who want. Good move in my opinion. 🫡

Do we have any idea how many actual content providers there are on nostr? As in people that are nostr first (not bridged or anything), are posting regularly, put some serious thought into their posts, and have some sort of theme or niche?

My guess would be around 500.

That's so true 😭😅😅😅😅

Have no clue what it is.

I don't see it on Primal?

Never heard of it

Primal trending sidebar was useless before buzzbot, primal trending sidebar after buzzbot is also useless, but for different reasons.

Parasocial sycophancy Vs paid engagement.

Same shit.

I haven't seen a single post but I've seen a dozen posts complaining about it

1 so far 🤔

I haven’t used it or reaped any benefits…this is one the instances where my ability to ignore stuff is a super power, haha

1... For now, I love this idea.

Its exploitable so it wont last in its current form but engagement incentives are cool.

I honestly don't see it in my feed much at all.

7 right now. Looking through trending and it’s all buzzbot. Not okay smh.

Someone needs to make pay2trendbot and charge 9%, let's get some competition & more variety 😂

nostr:npub1pefpytg7h9wdmza97evpta73eyf94rq5mq5cn6h992eknm4xcljqq2tv2p can probably do it and should do it. This is the best way to end buzzbot.

If you can do it, then just take 5% profit and no one will use buzzbot anymore

I would rather work on something original or even more so continue curating my gif collection 😂

Imagine how much “buzz” you’d get if you killed buzzbot. More people may help with your gif collection 👀

I am a fan of natural discovery. If people want buzzbot, let them have it. Things will get sorted out on its own.

I still don't know what buzzbot is 🤷‍♂️

I don’t pay attention to it ! Never .

Don’t want to see buzzbot-promoted notes in your Primal trending feeds? Simply mute the nostr:nprofile1qyjhwumn8ghj7cn40faxymm594ex2mrp0yhxyatvd35hx6rzda6kuare9e3k7mgprfmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuum4v3hkxctjd3hhxtnrdaksqgxfax7upvpuyx7nx7sjmn6mgc75nld0azz25y4mj5xpst57fklfhqy6fmt5 account. You will still see notes that mention buzzbot in your regular feeds, but they will be removed from the trending feeds.

Interesting to see the feedback to my note below. It's about evenly distributed between hating and loving buzzbot, as well as being indifferent. Therefore, we decided to offer our users a choice.

nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzp4sl80zm866yqrha4esknfwp0j4lxfrt29pkrh5nnnj2rgx6dm62qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq3jamnwvaz7tmswfjk66t4d5h8qunfd4skctnwv46z7qpqfqzmlkxsafrf5zpxu27a83lsdvpxn66af25vrtu96ua06u9ezetqy2xp3c

It’s made the trending feed unusable.
