primal has a concept called "network" - it is all the people you follow + all the people they follow
it's a pretty great starting point for curating your nostr feed - would be a solid default view for a mainstream client imo

Love that. It is the first step in solving the "discoverability" problem.
I hope it solves the "Holy Fuck, what did I just see?!" problem
With https://nostr.wine you can get this for global. But I agreed it would be great to have this standard in most clients without the need for a specific relay.
I’m also using Wine’s paid relay for this in Damus. I toggle between “network” and “global” depending on how wide a spectrum I feel like seeing.
This “degrees of separation” adjustment seems like a great feature to put into clients. Could even make it elastic based on how far you scroll in the feed.
Nostrgram had this early on as well but its developer walked away sadly.
Would be great. Follow one person you know and you already have a decent feed.
Está muy bueno
iris web client have decent options for settings the scope of this "network" as well. Both in terms of "degrees of separation" and minimum followers at the edge of the range.

Iris is mostly underrated. It rocks.
That would indeed help people using a nostr client for the first time. It would help myself also.
To discover content based on tags could perhaps discover content from another angle.
Its a great feed helped me find a bunch of new people to follow as well.
assume this isn't available yet on android app. can't seem to find it.
Iris is also filtering on those metrics.
And that mainstream client should be called 6 Degrees of Separation....
it's good. needs to have a quick follow from timeline rather than profile page.
I loved this feature back in Feb when nostrgram.co was still operational
Be sure to check my short blog on this:

This is a great idea
I wish they would show what people are replying to. I can't figure out how to enable that if you can at all. It's weird just seeing a few word note and guess if it's a reply or not.
Iris has network for relays and social networks for follows with layers of connection.
And the layars are color coded meanibg indicated by the badge color.
It goes like this:
Social network
Stored on your device
Total size: 10759 users
Depth: 3 degrees of separation
1: 1647 users
2: 8693 users
3: 419 users
Filter incoming events by follow distance:
3
Minimum number of followers at maximum follow distance:
5
Yeah, perhaps with some basic prioritization for the most active posts.
iris was the first to do that, and it is quite customizable
i think reports work better
i tried primal and its quite crap compared to amethyst
This post gave me a thought. We're talking about the future being based on an algorithm "marketplace" — that background context along with the notion that this very basic framework for a feed model has been named the "network" model feed makes you start to realize that the future of a decentralized social layer will be structured along the lines of a new kind of knowledge, a whole new vocabulary for technologists to invent and learn: the language of the information discovery algorithms.
We need words. It strikes me that some of this language must already exist in the trenches because the developers must already have named the concepts in order to build and work with them. But now end users ourselves need this jargon, a lingua franca upon which we will construct the new epistemological framework for digital communications.
How does one access this “network” function?
Many of its features aren't cooperating with being used on desktop. I hope it is used enough for them to see making it desktop friendly as worthy.
I have a very hard time with anything on mobiles... I'm not that old, but mobiles just aren't ergo and I am always fighting pain.
Sounds good
Primal has been great — really enjoying it
I just tested this and discovered my network feed is cursed. I have to go bleach my eyeballs now and wonder who in my network is following pages full of naked pregnant women.

😂😂
should use primal more since im using their nip5 lol, its cool but it needs relay browsing/filter and replies tab
It has simplicity on its side.
There will need to be more tools but feels like a good first step.
a solid feature ! i mainly use the follow and follow + network feed. Primal is my favorite nostr client now
