I was reflecting on how few major corporations I actually trust, so I tried to come up with a list.

So here’s a very short list of Corporations i kinda trust (sort of)

Costco

Trader Joe’s

In n out

Trust in this case meaning I trust them to source quality product, treat the customer with respect and deliver a good product and experience.

What are some examples you could add to the list?

Lol

trust in what way?

Toyota

CVT

Falken

Dometic

Airstream

Many more…..not all corporations are evil.

Toyota for sure. And apple to an extent. Even though I don't use iphones. HBO in streaming. They seem to have a more straight forward business models where human data isn't the main product.

I trust my bitcoin dealer šŸ¤™

Apple? Love or hate their walled garden approach, the product quality is consistently high.

I don’t trust the privacy claims at all. Plus the planned obsolescence is a huge turn off.

This got debunked

Link?

Can’t see Twitter threads any more; can you threadreader and unroll and share that link?

You can still paste any thread link into threadreaderapp dot com even if you don’t have an account.

That’s a huge help, thanks!

I still don't trust them šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ but thanks for the correction did not know it got debunked.

"We deliver consistently good quality that lasts for about a year until you need to buy another one of our overpriced products to maintain that same quality."

My Macs have all lasted about five years, and most iPhones at least two to three. I could’ve probably used them even longer, but willingly chose to upgrade.

In fact, my bitcoin core node runs on a 2015 MacBook Air I wasn’t using anymore.

I have a PowerBook from ~2004 that still works fine. It’s grossly outdated but it felt top of the line back then šŸ˜‚

Which is to say: the second-hand or refurbished market for macs is very high quality for the price, especially when you can start to get M1-M2 computers for ~$300

That's not really saying much. You can run core on a potato

As I understand it, the ā€œplanned obsolescenceā€ aka devices slowing down is a means of preserving battery life as it ages.

And I’ll be frank, my Apple devices have all had far longer life cycles than my Android phones or PCs.

But at some point your hardware will become incompatible with the new OS software thus rendering your device obsolete.

Yes, eventually you have to upgrade, you can’t use your same iPhone for 24 years.

And they support their stuff for years

Chick Fil A?

Palantir

Hahaha

I guess we can trust them to do bad things for the benefit of the state.

Trader Joe’s sourcing is no different than any other grocery chain. They all use 3rd parties to source their products and go through all the same distribution chains.

Yeah but I like the product and experience better than the typical grocery store

Yeah I did too. But once you see how distributors treat food as commodity it’s hard to unsee.

Is food not a commodity?

yeah I phrased it wrong. What i mean is how they treat it in distribution, storage etc...

A lot of Trader Joe's food is made by the giant corp brands that are present in other stores just under a different label. Trader Joes is just really good at marketing and making it seem like everything is healthier.

Oh gotcha

The government.... I win!

Costco can be fishy. Always check the ingredients and the prices elsewhere.

It's not just about getting the best deal, imo. Costco as a whole is a good company - they're good to their employees, they tend to have good products, and ethical sourcing matters to them (even if it's not 100% ideal or perfectly, they push that way, and that helps move the market that way).

Honda. Target. Most of the major chip manufacturers.

Definitely agree w Costco. Meats under the radar. Ace Hardware?

Black Rifle Coffee Company

Origin USA

Shakepay

Home Depot is sort of based

LL Bean

Patagonia

Mis Webos

Nordstroms. Best customer treatment I've ever experienced. Without question.

Quick Trip. That place fucks

Waffle House. It’s not the best, but you know exactly what you’re getting.

Pornhub

CostCo is top tier.

I'm down with

-Blackrock

-Exxon

-Ethical Capital Partners

Patagonia

Microstrategy is not on your short list?!? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜œšŸ˜‚

The formula is interesting: provide pay and benefits that make your corp the one everyone in that line of work wants to work for

ex:

Costco

Chic-fil-a

Workers take pride because they value their job - customers have a better experience - corp makes more money

Toyota

Costco

State Farm

Sorry, can’t quite go there with in n out, not so much for the respect and experience, more so the quality product.

I’d add Ace Hardware to the list.

I trust MicroStrategy to continue stacking BTC. Bastards.

Schecter Guitar Research

Mazda

Honda

Fender

Woodland

Apple (I dont trust their data privacy but does deliver good product)

McDonald’s

Hardly eat it, but when we’re abroad and see those golden arches down the road, I trust the experience will be exactly what I expect it to be.

Folio Society Books.

Trust no one

Question everything

Verify

add ā€œChik-Fil-A" and i think you might be onto something.
