You might have heard sideline reporter Charissa Thompson admitted on a podcast that sometimes she flat out made up reports about what coaches said at halftime because often coaches had no interest in speaking to her during a game.

My take is you should have a code of journalistic ethics when you are journalist — so many for the last 10 years have not when the stakes were infinity higher — and none of these Karens made a peep. Were they calling out Rachel Maddow for lying about the efficacy of the mRNA shot? Any blowback for Mina Kimes after unjustly impugning Aaron Rodgers’ character while it was she who was utterly misinformed?

But Thompson was doing a bullshit job that only exists because network execs and league officals thought it would be a good idea to have coaches use some of their scarce time between halves to speak, against their will, on camera. So they mouth inane truisms that add nothing of value.

To her credit, Thompson knew this was the case and just supplied the truisms for them which was a win/win. Now the coach could focus on second-half prep, and she was spared the unpleasant task of wringing something out of them. Neither the audience nor the executives were any the wiser.

If you have a real job, do it earnestly and with integrity. But when you see something is obviously fake and stupid, go ahead and break the rules. Those feigning outrage on account of their trust being broken sound ridiculous. You really put stock in Coach X saying: “we need to tackle better and take care of the ball?”

Don’t know why this just occurred to me now but if one deterrent for buying things with BTC is not wanting to deal with the tax consequences (realized gain) why not just (instead of buying with fiat) just buy the BTC on the spot and use it to transact.

IOW, if you buy and send immediately there’s no capital gain, unlike when you buy from a appreciated stash.

Gold bugs basically sit around expecting things to collapse or for governments to repeg their currencies to gold. The narrative is always that within a few years they will have some giant price surge. I like gold and gold some, since it has some uses, but overall gold spent the past five decades getting left behind by the world.

What makes bitcoin interesting is that it is both fast and hard, and as an open source network can improve in various ways (either the base layer, or higher layers, or apps attached to it).

When people say bitcoin is a joke, my response is to ask them to show me something that does what bitcoin does better. If I want to hold value for the next several years self-custodially, in something that is unlikely to get diluted, with the capability to bring that value globally in arbitrary size with me of need be (can’t do that with cash or gold), and with minimization of ways that governments could freeze my holdings, what should I use?

Like no protein powder I’ve ever had. Tastes fine when combined with milk not water (gross).

Your mistake is thinking Apple keeps your data secure. Pegasus and other malwares have been able to bypass iPhone security measures for years, and there's still no fix. iOS and OSX are entirely closed source. Nobody can confirm if its actually secure. Nobody can confirm what Apple actually does with your data. You just have to trust Apple and the US govt. _And there are countless examples of them breaking your trust_

Obviously my comment only applies to people who care about their privacy, security, and people who know better than to trust big tech or the govt to just give it to them. If that's not you, if you just trust Apple and the US to treat you appropriately, then I don't have time to convince you otherwise.

You don't need to be a techie to become ungovernable. But you have to want it.

With Apple you don't get freedom. So what does Apple give you that is so much better than freedom?

Seriously, ask yourself why you stick with iPhone instead of GrapheneOS or Calyx. Everyone here can name a few serious reasons not to use iPhones. What are its advantages that you love so much? Are you sure a Graphene or Calyx phone don't share those advantages?

Always be willing to reevaluate your decisions. The correct decision last year may no longer be the correct decision today.
