the ipad pro has replaced my laptop. trick: donāt use the apps. web only.
Discussion
I keep toying with the idea of getting a new tablet. I haven't had one in nearly a decade. It wouldn't be an iPad though. I blame nostr:nprofile1qqsr9cvzwc652r4m83d86ykplrnm9dg5gwdvzzn8ameanlvut35wy3gpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejsz9thwden5te0wfjkccte9ekk7um5wgh8qatzqyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnswf5k6ctv9ehx2aq38qmrf for this because I want a more portable #Notedeck device.

Got this about a year ago and I think it's pretty cool.
So the ipad has replaced your laptop browser
iPad Pro with attached keyboard is one of the best devices of all time. Especially the folio keyboard from 2018
How practical is that for full-time use? I'm all for web apps and services, but I have to imagine there are some desired functions the are simply not accessible except through apps.
My laptop (a cheap Chromebook) replaced my tablet.
I wanted a big screen that would hold itself up to watch video and a keyboard for emails or basic documents.
What are you doing on the web that you find a tablet preferable to a laptop? I don't think a lot of web content is touch-driven.
You donāt understand. They almost never touch the screen. Itās pretty much a super portable laptop now, aside the shitty iPadOS experience you get.

Does being thinner and lighter actually make it more portable?
If I want to take my laptop somewhere I put it in a faraday bag and then put that inside a laptop bag.
How would my laptop being a little smaller change that experience?
Exactly, and when you want to use the touch experience or watch something you can fold the keyboard away.
You're getting flexibility, maneuverability in a cheaper package.
Do you write code on that?
yes. terminus and replit.
Blink Shell + a Hetzner Server is the way

I donāt own a Laptop anymore since more than a decade. iPad only š¤š»
Great idea! Thanks
THIS ^^
I installed Linux on a Microsoft Surface Go tablet. Use it as a small computer from time to time. Pretty neat.
Do you use a mouse? I canāt get used to the mouse on the iPad Air. Itās like a magnet to buttons that I donāt want to press.
good to know! might try this!
i use MacBook Pro without any extra screens, will try iPad Pro
11inch or 13inch Modell. Which one do you prefer? nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m
Thereās nothing the iPad Pro canāt do. Beats out a note-taking device, eReader, drawing tablet, etc.
You can't use it to type things without carrying an external keyboard. Might as well have a laptop at that point.
the web is a cage
But it's still apple tho no open source no freedom š„²
Can't even be used unless you login with tracking apple ID š¤¬
And also hopefully not using safari browser š
why do you prefer ipad pro over laptop?
for me itās focus and mainly for non local coding.
Not Linux need the terminal... Assuming youāre using shortcuts with the web apps maybe?. Have a iPad but cause of limitations aka keyboard etc but might play around nice tip!
Which browser do you use?
I find that hard to believe to be productive. What are the 5 most āwebsites/appsā you use?
Keyboard and mouse attached?
Progressive web apps?
I'll never use an apple product.
it's a joke
Same. For quite a while now. Web only is much more secure too. š„
I find myself grabbing my iPad Pro more than my laptop too these days but conversely Iām using all the apps and still go to the laptop when I need web. What browser(s) are you finding most useful on ipad OS that solves it for you?
Are you using the keyboard too ?
Yes, keyboard is a must
Are you satisfied with Appleās iPad keyboards or have you tried anything else?
Yeah the Apple Magic one is the best. Iāve tried a few other things and thereās always connection issues or some other drama. The Apple one just works perfectly all the time and provides extra battery too.
Good to know!
I am using my iPad as extended screen from my Mac so I just use keyboard and mouse š from my Mac . No additional iPad pencil needed.
This has become the choice tech executives for some reason. Our CTO doesnāt code anymore and is mostly on calls, so I guess he doesnāt āneedā a laptop. Iād still think laptops would provide a better experience tho.
which browser ?
I started using Orion recently, as they allow for Firefox and Chrome extensions. Maybe take a look into that (I'm sure nostr:nprofile1qyxhwumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmvqyehwumn8ghj7mnhvvh8qunfd4skctnwv46z7ctewe4xcetfd3khsvrpdsmk5vnsw96rydr3v4jrz73hvyu8xqpqsg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q8dzj6n wouldn't mind taking a look at it either).
nooo... i rather buy linux tablet
Next go Boox ultra tab pro, or similar. Eink feels great
Idk if I can do it, haha
Tio: get away from Apple products. They are extremely inferior.
Apple rats out their users in the UK to the government, why support them?
Why not using the apps and the web only?
He uses apps privately on Graphene OS maybe š
Why Apple Store not received crypto payment as means to pay ? Primitive ā¦
Try pixel with grapheneOS or lineageOS and install microg in it or without it.
I hate using copy and paste on the iPad , tho
Bitcoin node
Getting there too. Using blink shell for remote development with code-server over ssh tunnel. Do you end up using stage manager much?
Using Safari PWA?
What about Brave?
Have some nostr:nprofile1qqs8msutuusu385l6wpdzf2473d2zlh750yfayfseqwryr6mfazqvmgpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ukzcnvv5hx7un89ufftwjc, confidential, encrypted AI. Itās great as a web app.
