Don’t have one and will probably never get one 😅

Just a fundamental thing against it or just haven’t found anything that would really swing your opinion the other way? 🤔

I’m not against the idea of them, i just don’t want one. No particularly strong reasons

Because you have noBody?

Me also have no tattoos btw

Purefleshies unite 😂🫡

Purefleshy here also, until #nostrasia 👀

Don’t have one, but planning on getting my first.

Amazing, do you have a design and everything already set, or is this more than anything a switch in your mindset and approach towards tattoos? 🤔💜

Reasonably small, still waffling on location.

tramp stamp 💜

Bicep or thigh, likely.

not sure how i feel about bicep tattoos myself tbh 🤔💜

Forearm is also a possibility, but I want it less visible than that. Also, it’d be more shoulder than bicep. Upper arm, I guess? Probably gonna go with my thigh, tbh.

My main reservation is they contain heavy metals

Huh, heavy metals? Is that true?

It’s true

completely flew over my head, idk 😂

Nah but fr they really do have heavy metals in them. Black ink is apparently the least toxic

😂

Huh, I really need to look into it then, good shout 💜

How do tattoos act in sunlight, anything to worry about? 🤔

Tattoos lose vibrance if you go tanning. If you use suntan lotion and exfoliate/moisturize you can keep your tattoos looking like you got them yesterday🤷🏽

I’m probably not going to a coloured one either, and thank you so much, this is some great information 💜

Course bud!

Excited to see what you get if you do. Excited for my pureskinned friend of you don't 🤷🏽🖤🤍

I did promise to get my first one there, but I really have to like the design and the work of the artist 💜

I usually come up with an idea. And I'm very visual so I'll even find pictures or draw something.

Find an artist with a style you like them call em up. Ball their shop or whatever and ask for a consultation.

Tell em your idea. Does em pictures. Maybe show them some of their stuff that you like.

Then they'll advise you like "oh maybe it shouldn't be in this spot but in that spot." Or "maybe smaller" "maybe bigger" "what if this instead of that" and you work with each other until it sounds like you're on the same page🤷🏽

Depends on the ink you use, but yeah. Some inks are much better than others, and yes, colors are overall worse than black.

I have 2 tattoos. Neither are visible with clothes on. Got them when I was ~20 and ~24 after certain people in my life passed away. Was planning on getting more, but now they’re kind of a turn off for me tbh. Maybe because they’re so mainstream now and it’s very easy to get a bad looking tattoo. I wouldn’t say I regret getting mine, but I would rather buy bitcoin at this point :)

That’s a really interesting look on it 💜

Thank you so much 🫶

I say it’s not but it depends on the person/reason.

Some need the pain as a sort of therapy. Others just want a cool thing.

My issue is just that once it’s on, it’ll never, ever come off.

#NoRagrats

That’s true 💜

I guess it’s how conservative and pure of a mindset you have towards your body also 🤔

Yeah. My wife has them. I don’t want any because I don’t see the point but that’s just me.

Just haven’t found any artwork or memory strong enough to swing your opinion or just a fundamental dislike against tattoos?

I dislike them for me. I don’t dislike them for somebody else.

Absolutely nothing but respect for this opinion. 🤝💜🫂

#NoRagrets Not even a letter?

Letters get wonky sometimes

I have two. Love them.

Amazing to hear that 💜 How long ago did you get them, and how well have they preserved so far?

One 4 years ago and the second one a year ago. I cream the skin regularly. They look very good. However, they are only black. The stinging has not caused much pain.

I have dead relatives and friendship tattoos. They mean the most to me. I'm considering getting two more. 🤙 and ⚡️

Planning on getting a zap icon alson👀💜

It has a deeper and more fundamental value to me, than the initial icon may tell you 💜

Love my sleeves. Be aware, Tats are addictive

Woah, sleeves?! Really cool 💜

Addictive, how so? 🤔

Hard to explain. There’s a pain aspect that’s addicting. Not too much pain and not too little but just right!

Huh, how’d you explain the “pain” to somebody? What is it like?

I’d say that it’s like a vibrating scraping. But it depends on the tattoo as well. Outlining is a bit deeper but not as painful. The shading is lighter but a lot more scraping. If that makes sense. It also depends on the location of the tattoo. Anywhere where the skin is thin is def more painful. ie under arms by armpit, ribs, ankles, neck etc

Huh, that’s some great insight 💜

I’m still not a 100% on where I want it 🤔

Honestly, I’ve had mine for almost 2 decades and most of the time I rarely even know they’re there

Addicted. Need more. Once you pop you can't stop.

Dependant on personality also, eh? 🤔

Can’t imagine it being that addictive, but I guess that goes with a lot of things

I think it's addictive because of the endorphins and what not.

It's strange to explain. But when you're on the table someone's it's nothing. Certain places feel like those electric stimulus massage things. Other places suuuuuccckkk and you're like oh God get me out of here... At least I'm being sexy!!

But as soon as they wipe you and pat you and say all done you're lungs immediately looking at the flashes in the wall like can I get another one???? I want another one!

Some of my tattoos actually have meaning behind them and some of them I got purely because I wanted them.

Imo its just anouther form of personal expression.

Start with the face tat.

💜 ready for it

🔥 get a tattoo mustache.

I could never grow one of my own, so that’ll be the closest I’ll ever get to having one 😂😂😂

Wanted one when I was younger. Could never decide on which one. Now I just don’t care either way.

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever really had a strong stance on it either way, so I’m approaching this with an open-mind and curiosity from both sides of the coin

I don't regret my tattoos but I am glad none are visible with what I usually wear day-to-day. If you're concerned about privacy, a tattoo can really single you out (say in footage of a protest or something like that).

Ive had 13 decent sized tattoos.

Every tattoo but 1 had a reason or meaning behind for getting. Each one also had an EXPERIENCED artist that i trusted with doing.

In most cases in which i meet people that regret getting something done is because they

A) got it on a whim or was drunk when did it

B) had a " friend" or a friends friend do it for them and it came out horrendous

C) just did it at a young age and didnt know what to get so they just picked something out of the flash art of the tattoo shop.

D) Got an EXs name done or portrait done.

In the end you have to do a tattoo for YOU and not anyone else. Its YOUR body and you HAVE to love with it forever. So make it something you truly feel strongly about and youll never regret getting it done and please for the love of god please go to a PROFESSIONAL

Get branded instead!

Branded?

Red hot metal stamp #tanelhasnt

huhh?? what’s that 🤔🤔

This but instead of 🪵, your epidermis

a huge globe on my forehead

mmm yes

branding so good

Never had one. Thought it’s weird to get something permanent. Now I think it’s fine and different people think differently. Love some of the tattoos I see on people.

I hope I’ve confused you even more than you were before this question.

I have 8 tats. I justified the expense because they last a lifetime. Once I learned about bitcoin, I stopped buying them.

You can't pass a tattoo onto your children, but you can tattoo a UTXO on the bitcoin timechain for your children.

Really good point 💜 How do you like your tattoos these days, after time has gone by? 🤔

I still like most of them. :)

Have always wanted them but could never settle on a tattoo I’d know I’d love for the rest of my life. I don’t normally have commitment issues, just with tattoos 😅

You coming to #nostrasia by any chance? 👀🤔

I have a really cool artist you’ve seen on Nostr creating some drafts, as me and many others promised to get matching tattoos in Tokyo 💜

Sadly no 🥹 (my baby is too little for me to travel!) but I def wanna see pics! Sounds awesome 🔥

Nawwww, that’s unfortunate, but I’m really happy for you. The pure joy and love spending time with your own baby must give you is so unique and indescribable 💜

I’m not that much of photographer, but I’ll do my best 🫶

I'm not going to alter the body I was given, so no tattoos for me

Would you consider a hip replacement?

Only as a last resort

Neuralink (if proven safe, private, and highly advantageous)?

Never

nostr:npub1nwhdqvfh6g2t86pnqkdf86m3ea89c6ejyhlhe5g9wk2lvpsgss6qed409r would you ever consider Neuralink?

I mean i put quite a few stipulations in there haha. So under those, 100%! One reason would be to have a channel of communication that is encrypted *all the way to the brain*!!

I also would be interested, if it’s ever possible, in programming in some automations. Not exactly sure what that looks like, but maybe for example if I’m not being mindful in my communications with someone, it could ping me to remind me of my desire to be mindful.

So an open-sourced alternative Neuralink would be something you’d be interested in? 🤔

I wouldn't even be interested in that, personally. Just having a chip in my brain alone would make me feel less human and autonomous

Maybe you’re better than me, I tend to think I do a lot of stuff that my remembering self would not be as happy about as my living self is. I could see something like this helping me get a better balance between the remembered and lived self.

Plus, imagine if you could record and play back experiences. Like playing with a child who later passed away.

Or sharing your feelings of being hurt with your oppressor, and vice versa so you can really feel what it’s like to be each other. Would war even be conceivable in such a world?

Part of the human experience is to forget. It's why intelligence can be a curse as much as it is a gift

Since I’m giving this thing magical abilities haha, why not the ability to erase what you want to 😁

I'd rather let nature run its course and let God decide what I should forget

Yeah, I guess I have a hard time believing that God is choosing which memories I forget and which ones I keep, but if I did believe that I would 100% be with you there

I might add, as an adjacent point, that an open-source neurolink implant would probably still be vulnerable to bad actors, no? Biblical arguments aside, I'm not so sure I would trust that my brain couldn't be hacked 🫠

Yeah I mean if there were a chance that I could be turned into a controlled zombie I wouldn’t do it.

The mark of the beast thing - it seems like people avoid tons of stuff worrying that it might be that. I’d like a lower false positive rate. Especially when some of the things could be immensely beneficial. I suspect people wouldn’t avoid it if it’s been safely used for years. Like cochlear implants maybe. As long as you don’t worship the beast, it’s not the mark, right?

I, personally, have many reasons for being hesitant to put a chip in my person haha. Mark of the beast is not one of them. I'm not of the persuasion that the mark of the beast is talking about some future technology implemented by Antichrist. I'm not even of the persuasion that it has application beyond 70AD (though arguments of "double fulfillment are interesting). I wrote about this on a different post and I'll repost it here:

"[This perspective] arises from an erroneous eschatological reading of Revelation. Buying and selling, as well as the larger theme of being marked, is used throughout Revelation in connection with worship (v. 3:18, 5:9–10, 7:3–4, 13:16–17, 18:11–13). The mark of the beast is contrasted by the seal of God on the forehead. There is a lot more here to unpack but ultimately it is all making a spiritual point rather than painting a doomer end times situation."

Totally! Maybe neuralink open sources the firmware / software and people get into uploading forks

Interesting take, where does your fundamental idea originate from? 💜

The Bible teaches us not to self mutilate, and so the act of tattooing which is permanently scarring skin tissue into a certain color would fall under that umbrella in my book

Yeah, makes a lot of sense 💜

Religion study isn’t really a thing here, so I’m not really familiar with the different sets of values that different religions have, but this is really interesting to hear 🫶

Not having a tattoo is the "new tattoo".

Most people I encounter have tattoos and got them for uniqueness.

Right now I feel more unique than any of them :)

I don't put stickers on my car either though.

This is all lightly connected to surveillance as well.

Looking forward to reading the article, thank you so much for sharing 💜

Have some. All have meaningful/personal back stories and I think the design through a lot before getting them. Really want more when I’m able.

Sounds amazing 💜 How long ago did you get your first one? 🤔

Got my first one shortly after graduating and then I’ve gotten a few more in the past 5 years.

So it is also with me. Both tattoos have a very special meaning and history

I like them.

Because of the art or the memories?

What kind of tattoos do you like? 💜

Both art and memories. I traditional style tattoos. That style stands the test of time.

What do you consider traditional when it comes to tattoos? 🤔

Polynesian tattoos

This style of tattoo art is considered traditional. Bold outlines with solid fields of color and minimal shading. With a solid application and proper healing technique the tattoo will last a lifetime.

I can only say you should not even think about skimping on it if you choose to get a tattoo. Especially a big one.

This is absolutely true.

If you are gonna get it permanently, then why would you cheap out on it 💜

Make few different designs, choose one. You can print it on a special sticker and add it to your skin as henna type of ink to see if you will really like it.

But if its not something super tiny, sit on the chosen design for a year. Even if you love it today, you may hate it in a month or a week.

When you choose an artist make sure you discuss everything and tell that person if you want all the details like in the picture or if only some will be passed on, make sure you know how it will exactly look.

I have a really good artist on it 👀💜

But this is some great advice Tetsu 🫶

Always will be a marked man!

How does that make you feel? 🤔

Already got one!

😂😂😂😂😂😂 nooooooooo

😂

Nah, you shouldn’t vandalise your body imo. Your body is a temple of God.

My son who is a Christian has a large tattoo in honor of his uncle who passed away and I love it.

Must be a heavy burden to carry the death of your uncle around all the time scarred on your body. I would personally hate that. Thats just my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I like them to signify extremely significant events or milestones.

My favorite is the alchemical symbol for decomposition/entropy. I had it done on my honeymoon as a reminder that my marriage is like any other system - if I stop putting energy and work into it, it will fall apart like anything else.

Woah, that's deep man

Individuality is on the inside.

I've got plenty, No regerts here! Looking to get more.

I don't like them and think they're kind of trashy, and sometimes I even find it mildly irritating and cringy how common they are among young people these days. That being said, I don't really judge it too harshly, just not my thing, at all.

fair enough 💜 thank you for sharing your perspective, clay

I’ve never found something I love confidently enough to permanently put on my body

Ayoo. I have full sleeves on both my arms. No regret ever. One arm is a dope ass design of a mythical creature that I’ve always loved since childhood, and will never think it’s not cool. Most of my other tattoos have a direct and important meaning like my deceased family members or personal mantras. Tattooing is very personal, and everyone does it for different reasons!
