Tips for itchy dry scalp?

I wash my hair 2-3 times a week (Please don’t give me the “don’t wash your hair” speech, I work in a dirty environment most of the time and NEED to wash my hair) with Head & Shoulders and I condition on the same frequency as well.

Anyone?

Sounds like youre from Idaho.

I don't know much about potatoes but I know a miracle cure-all when I taste one

H&S is bad. Use natural oils. Start with Coconut oil on hair and scalp then wash after 30 minutes. Every couple of days

Head and shoulders sucks for you. Get a all natural shampoo bar.

Had the same issue. Switched to American Crew 3-in-1, and totally fixed my hair.

Nizoral

I had the same issue and worked in a dirty environment. I went to a black hair and beauty supply store and got the most basic natural shampoo I could find and some leave in oil/conditioner.

Add a few drops of high quality undiluted peppermint oil to the scalp and massage it in after you have washed your hair. It soothes the scalp and makes you feel fresh AF. Make sure you don’t get oil on your 🥜!

T gel

Coconut oil, b!

I’m literally retarded n wash mines daily cus nobody ever told me to have days in between.. sorry im of no help here

H&S does nothing than that it further dries your scalp.

If you really need to use shampoos, use something with oils instead.

I use only hot water sometimes with lemon and/or green tea for past few years and I am fine. In the winter I still ocasionally get drier scalp but it still better than it ever was with shampoo.

I had the same problem and then I started using this

You can pick it up at any sport clips

It's the only thing I've ever used. That's fixed my problem. I hope that helps

I’m buying soap, shampoo, and conditioner that’s handmade using the least amount of ingredients possible, animal based.

Fixed the itching, dryness, and dandruff.

try baby shampoo, johnson&johnson or other brands

TBH I had huge problem with dry scalp but for real that new head and shoulders helped me fix it completely.

Not daily use if you don’t work in heated environments with dust.

I personally love that coconut one, but they have different scents.

I using it like for 2 months now and for real when I shakes my hair, nothing falls off.

Also my hair started more

I rly suggesting to try at least one run ✊🏻

Haha seems like NostRICHES hates H&S 🤣 Idk but it fixed my hair.

I’m not using it daily btw

Drop the chemistry, buy Sats instead!

Definitely don't use head and shoulders. Get one of these to use in the shower.

I would reccomend reducing the amount of shampooing, wash your hair as often as you like, but don't use shampoo every time, maybe like once a week at most.

Use a brown onion for dandruff and itchy scalp.

16 oz Coors Lights. The kind of cans with screw on tops only. It probably will not help your scalp but I’m not a doctor. “Safe and effective.” That is what the Liquor store proprietor told me.

Try a shampoo made with natural ingredients and oils. I found a locally made shampoo containing eucalyptus oil here in Australia which solved these issues for me. I’m sure there are similar products available elsewhere.

What is the humidity in your house? If it’s heated and dry during winter months?

Are you drinking decent amounts of water?

Coconut oil is good as someone said.

Olive oil will help lift/rinse current situation.

Ditch H&S

Try natural products.

There is a ginger body shop dry scalp shampoo that is decent although there is likely decent more natural as some have suggested. Use every day sparingly.

It is pretty solid.

Nizoral as a last resort.

Solid amounts of water and decent humidity.

mix in a little glass jar

-coconut oil

-a few drops of scented oils you like (sandalwood, tea tree etc)

test various amounts but safe to rub onto the scalp, face, hands etc.

it helped me. a lot.

great advice. consider also adding a small squeeze of lemon juice to the coconut oil

use as needed and consider an alternative to head & shoulders. give it a little time (few days or so) but you likely will notice improvement.

good luck. lmk ?

Eliminate/minimize carbs and sugar intake, helped for a friend of mine that had problems with the scalp flaking and itching.

A shot of extra virgin olive oil every day. You will see results in a week. Guaranteed

Dang this reminds me of the easiest way to get the right answer on the internet is to reply to your own question with the wrong answer! 😂

Idk but I tried a baking soda/water paste, work that in and then rinse with apple cider vinegar, couple times a week maybe.

Feels amazing.

Barrel & Oak Charcoal Shampoo Mint & Eucalyptus. Available on Amazon.

Coconut oil. Massage into the scalp a few times a week

Avalon organic medicated dandruff shampoo. Mostly just aloe Vera instead of water and petroleum and forever chemicals in 99.99% of traditional shampoos.

I find this helps my scalp the most. Wash with normal shampoo, then wash with this shampoo and leave in for 5 minutes before rinsing. Itchiness and flaking significantly reduced!

I HAVE TIPS but am in transit now, will come back later

Mariana I’m now starting to get worried about the length of your transit

HAHAAHHAVAVAHAHHAHAHAHAAH sorry, I forgot!!!

ok this is a complex, layered answer and I am very bad at being brief, bear with me.

first of all, there are mainly 2 causes for flaky scalp: either your scalp is oily and has fungal overgrowth, or your scalp is dry/sensitive and/or prone to eczema.

(these are not black and white categories, they can potentially overlap in some scenarios, but let’s stick to the basics first.)

the most common active ingredient in anti-dandruff/flakiness shampoos is zinc pyrithione, which works against the fungal infection, plus ingredients to prevent oily scalp. this is the working mechanism of head&shoulders, so if your itchy scalp is caused by dryness/sensitive skin, using head&shoulders is actually making it worse by stripping your scalp of its natural oils.

it’s fundamental to understand the cause of the itchiness to address the problem correctly. but generally speaking, there are a few things you can do to keep the scalp healthy:

- use shampoo & conditioner that target scalp health – these conditioners are usually meant to be applied directly on scalp and left on for a minute or two. brands I’ve used and recommend: Sachajuan, Klorane, and Nioxin. Klorane also has a calming spray that you can use on dry hair, but I’ve never tried it. of course, these are NOT targeted to fungal infections, for that I’d recommend seeing a dermatologist and getting a proper medical shampoo, not a store-bought one.

- blow drying your hair instead of leaving it dry naturally helps (specially against fungal infection).

- watch the frequency of washes (you might need more or less) and temperature of the water (super hot water is always bad).

- now, this is weird, but after moving to Germany from Brazil, with the crappy hard water, once a year I’ll get flaky itchy scalp on the winter. I do a one time thing that is VERY weird but works for me.

I mix yoghurt with sugar to make a natural exfoliant with probiotics. I apply it to each section of my hair and gently scrub it for around 10min (if you have super sensitive skin this won’t be good) and then leave it on for an hour for the fats of the yogurt act as a lipid-barrier-nutrition thing and then wash my hair normally. I know it sounds very weird, but I swear I do this ONCE and my problem is solved for the whole winter 😂 but I am sure there are industrialized scalp masks that do the same if you don’t feel like having yogurt on your head.

good luck!

Coconut oil and tea tree oil massage 💆‍♂️ in da scalp and wash out

Use beef tallow once or twice a week
