I know that many of you already know this, but I’m really amazed at how much of a difference it makes towards my mental health to get my heart rate above 130 for 20 minutes within an hour of waking up. Every time I do that I always feel so much better than I would anticipate I would.

It’s a strange illusion to feel in a funk and then to simply extricate oneself from it by a brisk walk. I somehow always forget that doing that allows for me to feel so much better and be able to take on the day from a place of feeling empowered, rather than being tired and cranky.

I really got to remember these little hack for myself to make my life a bit easier.

Combine it with some sun in the morning and you’re well on your way to a solid day. Helps visualization as well

I’ve been doing a walk with my youngest in the stroller mosts mornings up in the hills above my house. I think it’s beneficial for us both and definitely gets me in a good mood!

Definitely.

Long, brisk dog walk at dawn straight from bed. Same effect.

This is key to a good day and a good life.

I enjoy hearing you Bitcoin OG’s talking about life beyond and outside of Bitcoin!

Ideas appear when walking

A more trustworthy source than Snopes thats for fuxking sure chief.

Any repetitive motion has the same effect. Holding your head still and looking from side to side with your eyes does the exact same thing, at least emotionally. It's a well supported therapy for PTSD. It was based on walking.

So much insight gained on walks. 🎯

My fitness plan:

1- eat real food (99% of the time)

2- walk a minimum of 10k steps a day

3 - lift weights a minimum of 3 times per week. Ideally 6.

4- consistently get good sleep.

5- get sun and grounding whenever possible.

6- avoid drinking more than 1-2 times a month. Never to the point of a hangover the next day.

Stop 6 completely, and you got a solid plan.

You’re right but as far as vices go, I keep it pretty low key.

When I had a dog, there was no need for a reminder and even without the walk, he was always about to improve my mood. Just takes a bit more doing without though. Couldn’t agree more about morning exercise.

Just shovelled my driveway. Agree 100%

Now try a HIIT sprint workout. Same feeling but 100x.

I wake up at 4 am to work out for an hour. It fucking sucks waking up and starting, but 30 minutes in you start feeling awesome. After that last rep, you do feel a sense of “the fuck can happen today that’s worse than that?” Lol

That's why I like to take the bicycle to work!

Exercise is key for a healthy life 💜

there's no such thing as a "stroll" where i live, it's Edmund and Hillary stuff on madeira. i could really use a treadmill.

but even just sleeping in a dark room with no lights on, and not getting up until sunrise and immediately spending 10 minutes outside, just the light on your eyes, and don't consume any caffeine until then. caffeine disrupts that triggering so you need the light first.

ah yeah i have a pull-up bar i'm going to assemble and set up shortly. would be fun to hang upside down and let my back straighten out and get sunlight, then do some situps and pullups.

i'm not sure it has to be cardio. resistance exercise also will get your blood pumping but you don't have to go anywhere. which would suit my situation better, in this early stage recovering my energy levels after too long drinking and sitting too long at computers.
