Phoenix, still. And Alby.

Yep. Just grab Phoenix from GitHub.

Yeah, I just get it via Obtainium.

And if you're worried about Phoenix shutting you down in the US, you can get a VPS in Canada for a few bucks a month. Run Phoenixd and LnBits. Connect to that with Zeus.

Lunanode.com - Toronto, CA. You can pay with Bitcoin 😃

Lawallet no me va a dejar nunca

Comunidad bitcoiner más grande de la Argentina

I run my own Umbrel node, connected to Zeus.

I’ve also been testing out nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm Hub, which is a self-custodial cloud node (run on their own infrastructure) for the past month that natively plugs into NWC and connects to Zeus over LNDHub. Love it so far.

Umbrel is great as long as it works, but the backups are a real problem. They have a hacky but workable backup for LND but nothing for CLN. If you run a CLN node and your hardware dies you’re in trouble.

This is why I prefer start9.

this is what some people think

😂 Lightning isn't perfect but least it's not a Shitcoin.

the worst part are this group would repeatedly tell us what shit ass job we do every day. i'm so over the abuse already

If monero is a shitcoin (self custody, decentralized, private, just works)

LN is a shitstorm

I like what #xmr does but it would work here because you wouldn't be able to see who zapped you.

actually you can choose to broadcast a nostr event that tells everyone a monero zap happened. Or not.

Either revealing the sender or keeping the sender anon.

Options.

Install Garnet and I'll prove you wrong right now.

I've heard multiplle people mention Garnet now, so I probably will take a look.

Is that even an argument?

You are close to acceptance. I give you two more months until you flip your stance on this proclaimed "shitcoin".

Resistance is always largest before the change of mind.

Use my own node, mostly. You can still use phoenix, fyi...

Zeus and Breez are my favorites now.

Nayuta wallet

Aqua wallet

Helm wallet

Alby and Zeus mostly for Lightning.

Breeze

Aqua, cash app, and primal are my hots

And for cold 🥶 I use green with blockstream jade

Look into Blixt in addition to some of the other suggestions. It is young and I haven't experimented with it a lot yet but it seems promising.

#asknostr

Blixt and minibits

Primal. CashApp has Lightning enabled.

You can still use Phoenix on Android. Install using nostr:npub10r8xl2njyepcw2zwv3a6dyufj4e4ajx86hz6v4ehu4gnpupxxp7stjt2p8

You can also just sideload the apk from GitHub.

My node.

Samourai wallet did not leave.

Wake up! It’s just 🌀 not working temporarily. run your own stack?

Mostly Zeus connected to mynode to stack.

Sometimes WoS, strike and minibits to play around or for when Tor is down

I'm using Phoenix and Minibits. I can handle most cases with these 2.

Me too.

Zeuz connected to own node, can't complain it works excellent.

Also still using Samourai with own Dojo.

Based setup, hyper sovereignty all the way.

Strike ⚡️

Can I publish an LN address w/Strike?

I believe so yes

Zeus is just on another level in every possible way. My upmost respect and admiration.

Alby, BlueWallet and WalletOfSatoshi as well probably. What _are_ folks using these days? 👀

BlueWallet is done with LN WoS no bueno in the USA.

What happened to Phoenix?

Ahhh America! Sorry for you, but it's open source, you can install the apk and connect with Tor.

Unless you are using an iPhone, then sorry, not sorry.

Alby and Zeus.

And Minibits.

alby and got it now backed up by alby hub hosted LN server

Oh, did that work? We're probably going to need this #[4] because the #[5] is still hosted. (As is mine 🙈).

I think we have to move to self-hosted by October.

I’ve been procrastinating it for some time now. I should receive a RaspberryPi 5 soon with some other hardware to run a LN node.

Can't we run one on the remote server and share it?

A Bitcoin node would also be kinda cool.

Or is there a legal/technical reason why that is a dumb idea?

It’s not dumb, but it’s also less feasible on the remote server.

I would personally rather have all Bitcoin stuff on hardware we can control.

Also, it would require a lot of disk space.

Ah, okay, cool. Yeah, the server could just disappear again, or get frozen by German authorities.

Exactly. Plus, the whole point of running a node is independence from anyone who isn’t me.

I wonder if we could make money on a LN node. Nobody seems to be able to. 😂

yeah, probably not, i think you have to be running big channels to high traffic nodes to catch enough fees, and your fees have to be equal or less than alternative paths

Hmm. Might be interesting, at some point.

idk, i think it's enough to have your own path in and out from the edge, that has value of itself

yeah, alby hub works nice, i guess it probably won't be hard to run it yourself also

I’ll look into it

Thank you!

We have so many different personal npubs, and the project address, that it makes sense to run one ourselves. Also a NIP-05 server, so that we all have matching @gitcitadel.com handles.

Alby and Zeus seem like the best easy USA options. I’m also trying to run a Core Lightning node on a Start9. That isn’t too bad if you understand how channels and liquidity work.

Any strategy for automated backups? I wished it was easy to backup to the cloud (encrypted)

Start9 currently at least has manual backups that are easy. Umbrel currently has basically no backups unless you go into each app individually on the CLI(not practical).

There isn’t a great automated backup solution right now that I’m aware of, but it’s on Start9’s roadmap.

If you need automated backups as a hard requirement I’d probably use Voltage.

SPARROW ON DESKTOP.

ZEUS ON MOBILE.

CAPSLOCK ON NOSTR

IMPORTANT TO SPEAK CLEARLY.

Or at least loudly.

If you would speak clearly, you would recommend to look into Monero and learn a few things from cypherpunks.

🫡

ELECTRUM / ZEUS

+1 for this combo, my unix environment is a bit less raped by python scripts than how it would be with the big java fat boy.

Still sparrow and electrum are the best wallets on desktop and sparrow is today the more complete, probably the best.

I endorse sparrow to newbies and not electrum cause the controversial electrum seed and all the things that works only with advanced plugins (like seedsigner for example).

What about Wasabi on desktop for convenient coinjoining?

Another vote for wasabi on desktop.

This is quickly becoming an unbeatable combo…

🎯🔥

I am in EU, so Phoenix. But Aqua wallet works ok too

Zeus or Alby with your own node is always best. Breez is also a great option. If you're cool with custodial trade-offs, Minibits and wallet.cashu.me are also fantastic.

Zeus...

COINOS.IO

MY FAVORITE WALLET BY FAR .

What happened with phoenix? I'm still using it

Run your node and bitcoin never left you.

Bitkit

Phoenix still works in US, just not in app stores
