# ⚡️ Nostr zaps - a guide 💜

Time to get you zappin' with LightningTipBot (https://ln.tips). This is my personal setup. There are other ways and services to do this. Do you own research. This is just a suggestion.

## 1) Set up LightningTipBot wallet

- Click here: https://LN.tips 👈

- You're done.

## 2) Sending zaps

Let's start with sending. You don't need much. Any Lightning wallet will do. I will describe how to use LightningTipBot to zap with.

### Sending zaps in the browser

- Get the Alby brower extension at https://getalby.com/

- Go to LightningTipBot and enter "/link"

- Copy the details and go to Alby and add a new "LNDHUB" wallet

- Enter your details

- Your LightningTipBot wallet can now be controlled from your browser

- Click on the ⚡️ zap icon for example in iris.to and you'll be able to send zaps.

### Sending zaps on mobile

- You can also "/link" your wallet to BlueWallet

- Get BlueWallet from the App store

- Import a new Lightning wallet

- Enter your credentials from LightningTipBot

- You can now control your LightningTipBot wallet from Bluewallet

- Click the ⚡️ zap icon for example in Amethyst or Damus and open BlueWallet.

- Pay and zap on

## 3) Receiving zaps

You can receive zaps with pretty much any Lightning address provider. There are many options. See: https://lightningaddress.com/

However, if you want the zaps to appear under your posts in Damus or Snort.social, you'll have a few less options (still). Here is how to do it with LightningTipBot:

- Go to LightningTipBot. Enter "/help" if you don't know your Lightning address.

- See your address? Mine is callebtc@ln.tips

- Optional: Enter "/advanced" to get an anonymous address if you don't want to doxx your Telegram username.

- Put your Lightning address into your nostr profile

- In LightningTipBot, register your nostr pubkey with "/nostr add "

- You're done! You'll receive zaps and they will be shown under your zapped posts!

## 3) NIP-57 support

Zaps (those which appear under a note) are formalized in NIP-57. Currently, they are supported by the following services. This is probably not a complete list and tomorrow there might be even more:

### 💜 Sending (Nostr clients):

- Snort.social (https://snort.social/)

- Damus (http://damus.io/)

### ⚡️ Receiving (Lightning wallets):

- LightningTipBot (https://LN.tips)

- VIDA (https://vida.live/)

- Stacker.news (https://stacker.news/)

- strike.army (https://strike.army/)

Yes… look at JB55’s notes. Shows you total zaps per post. I activated my ln.tips, don’t see zaps on my note in Damus, but it does appear in snort.social 🤷‍♂️

AFAIK it's only in Test Flight so far for Damus, but not certain

I should clarify… I can see zaps on posts from #[2] . I can’t see any on posts coming from LightningTipBot - at least not on these posts from Calle that are supposedly showing up outside of Damus

You mean any at all? For the wallet providers that are working you have to click on the note to get the count to show up. Works on Will’s posts and some other users. LightningTipBot implementation appears to be working on other clients, just missing on Damus

The LightningBot integration works great and I received the notification with the Nostr attribution. But the post that zapped from Snort doesn't show anything (neither on Damus).

Same problem with Stacker.news, uhm, perhaps the problem is... myself 😅

Just noted that Amethyst instead shows my auto-zap tests (with a really nice notification too!) while on Snort and Damus are still missing.

The note is #[6], 2 zaps of 21 + 21 sats changing the LN address (stackers.new + ln.tips).

#[3] your implementation is somehow different from #[4] and #[5] one?

I don’t think that resolves to a correct lnurl (yet!). In the mean time, check out wallet of satoshi or, if you have telegram, https://ln.tips . They’re probably the easiest options to get one so far.

But trying to zap myself from another account to see if it works, I am invited to zap to the @getaby.com address I am logged with, instead of the @ln.tips one (assuming this is where it should go). So it doesn't go there and also doesn't show up in the counts.

Any idea?

You have to be zapped TO a nip57 Lightning wallet (like ln.tips) FROM a nip57 nostr client (like snort.social)

I just don't get how to make it send to the ln.tips wallet instead of the alby one (since I am logged in with that one, it seem to be the default). Been trying from Iris and Snort, from various browsers (as their "versions" seem to be different), all Desktop.

Stuck for now but I hope I can figure that out at some point!

Here is my not-so-complicated guide how we can get you zappin ⚡. You need a NIP-57 compatible Lightning address (I gotchu) and a nostr client (Damus Testflight, Amethyst, snort.social)

In short:

1) Get an https://ln.tips wallet

2) Enter "/link". Add the credentials to your Alby extension (LndHub) & connect it to BlueWallet for the best experience.

3) Then enter "/nostr add " and put the Lightning address into your nostr profile.

It a custodial wallet that is connected to your telegram account. That's all you need to access it.

What is the benefit to rolling a wallet in LN Tip Bot wallet in Telegram and linking it to Alby as opposed to just using a wallet already connected to Alby?Seems I could still tip you just fine but and I think I can be tipped as well. Is this simply to do with zaps not showing up properly on the posts?

More info that you wanted but some options listed at the bottom. I highly recommend trying out ln.tips. I do think all the options are custodial at this point. #[4]
