the kim family is probably one of the purer strains, the rest of the world has more diluted, less strong versions. there is also the factor of the population, who have become more adapted to living in this way.
not saying it's good, but just expanding on the hypothesis that there is something else at play in the relative stability of such an oppressive society.

That threat aimed at South Korea’s capital and one of our key trade partners in the region has long deterred military action or regime change. The credibility of that threat bought the Kim regime 70 extra years of survival.

You can watch videos on YouTube of people that have recently visited North Korea, and they're talking to the people from North Korea, and they well, most of them say that they wish they can go to Russia. It's weird the way they live, but you know, maybe you should watch the videos.

Yes, it is amazing there are countries that are still free from the international banking cartel and US empire influence. It is a sort of achievement many nations can only dream about.

My explanation is, that its really the most prosperous free country on earth and they just want to keep it for themselves, so they created a narrative that its horrible and suppressive and closed.

I think it benefits all the other states to have such a dystopian country that seems like a cruel joke. This way, they have a very low benchmark to compare themselves to: 'Well Bob, we've further restricted your freedoms and well-being with this emergency decree, but we're not North Korea, after all. So shut up and keep buying your Big Mac."
