I know many of you fellow Bitcoiners are fitness enthusiasts. Could anyone advise on the most effective methods for stretching or rolling out a tight hip flexor? I've tried numerous techniques, taken a week off from training, had a few massages and I attempted rolling it out previously without any success, but I’m giving it another try today.

Any suggestions?

I love pigeon pose for stretching out tight hip flexors.

🙏🧡

Pigeon pose is where it's at 😆

This one?

Yep! However, classic and resting is all I can get into. I’m not flexible enough yet for one-legged and king pigeon. 😆

😂👏🏆

This is going to sound counterintuitive but sometimes when my hip flexors are bothering me and stretching them hasn’t helped, doing some gentle strength work helps more because they’re actually sore from being overstretched. So knee high marching in place, bridges, dead bugs. All helpful to engage the hip flexors.

Omg lol I’m scared to try this 😂.

I’m generally quite fit and familiar with the sensation of tight muscles or tendons, but omg something happened this week and they are just crazy tight 🤯

Thanks 💜

Sex is pretty good hip flexor exercise too, better in some positions than others! I generally dislike intentional exercise so I look for fun ways to do it. 😁.

Not a bad way 🏆

You’re pointing to and foam rolling towards the outside of your hip. Could it be your IT band bothering you?

Honestly I don’t really know, that’s why I posted a photo of me pointing to it 🤷‍♀️ because I figured there would be some fitness person that would tell me if I’m not even pointing at my hip flexor 😂

Try these stretches. Gently! See if any hit the spot a little better than the stretches you’ve been doing.

Thank you I will for sure try 💜🏆

I had a massage today and my therapist said it’s simple name is in fact “hip flexor”, but it’s Latin term is the "iliopsoas," which itself is a combination of two muscles: the "iliacus" and the "psoas major."

Try couch stretches :)

I have not tried this yet! Thank you for the image 🙏 very helpful!

Do you activley release your breath while you stretch, roll or massage your tight spots? I learned that a few moments of conscious release trumps minutes of stretching without it.

I like nostr:npub17x7htjej3hgcqwqj86u9yvpcunhw6nz4zclzph2zfnlwe4v0yp8qrxvgap 's approach. Sounds best to me to fix it long term. Stronger hip flexors don't get tight from overusage as much as weaker ones.

But witbout more information this is all just guess work😅

So you both think that’s the path 🥵 I suppose I’ll try tomorrow, but I’ll do the couch stretch first.

Kneeling hip flexor stretches helped me recently when I was training for my ultra. There’s an example here. I would pull my back foot up so my heel touched my glute. You can put your back foot up on a low chair, too.

Thank you 💜

Sometimes a "pso-rite" (https://pso-rite.com/products/pso-rite) can help. (These can be 3D printed at home for cheap.) OR sometimes, I'll use a lacrosse ball or softball instead of the roller. (More leaning into the pain spots and waiting, less moving around and smashing.) In the sauna, everything works even better.

Lol I love that you suggested that I could 3D print one 🫶

I actually don’t have any tennis balls here at this gym, but maybe I’ll go buy one 👍. About the sauna 🧖‍♀️ I have found that to be my pain free space 🙏
