I used a virtual box on a Windows system to mine my key with Rana. Took me 4 or 5 days.

I was able to successfully mine one beginning with "jawsh". Tried for "jawsh207" but after 3 or 4 days with no success, I decided to give up on that one.

So did you get your vanity npub from the outset or is it possible to change your npub down the track
I had a different account previously but deleted it (removed pic, unfollowed everyone and changed to bio to ‘deleted’).
Unfortunately everything is tied to your pub / priv key so there is no other way to update it to a new one.

This sparked a question.. Does mining vanity npubs skew the “New npubs created” data that we occasionally see? I still can’t remember where that data is from though…
😂 no. it would slow down your minding by a lot to make and publish an event with the discarded pubkeys
Okay so that data is taking data from keys that are publishing events. That makes sense. If I would have thought about it for like 5 more seconds that would have dawned on me. But alas, I’m an idiot.

We got the npub1current in 2 days on a NUC pc. I have not seen any 8+ vanity keys yet…!
this screenshot was on 2/12 and it was mined on 2/15. that extra character makes it 1 cashapp for every ~32 plasma (the android client we’re about to alpha)
