Patreon also froze payments. When the Ukraine war broke out, someone raised money that had something to do with it via Patreon.

I think we can all agree that when someone raises money for whatever cause they believe in, those recipients they raised it for should get it without any other entities stepping in the prevent it from being done.
third party centralization is just sooo 20th century.
I can understand governments wanting to control where their fiat currencies are going, but it's the donors that need to be held accountable for where they choose to send their money. Third parties just add layers of complexity that are no longer needed.

Exactly. Donating is personal and it’s intrusive for someone to step in and say “no you can’t do that just because we have more power than you.” Its gross.

Identity confirmation via proof of ID, backed by a community rating system that can quickly and easily identify scams and fake IDs. I get PM on Nostr all the time from new profiles using well known names, and I just laugh at them.
I have some people in places like Kakuma that I would support a lot more if they could get the bandwidth to post.

I see so many people in my industry investing time, money and lots of effort into building a revenue stream on patreon. I know they don't have good alternatives. I know that many of us lack sufficient technical expertise to piece together a solution even if we knew about some kind of potential open source alternatives.
But none of that assuages my concerns about the tendency of these walled garden platforms to rug-pull disfavored causes, industries or people. Something built on #nostr presents the best hope for reducing or eliminating this vulnerability.

I hated my experience with Patreon. They cut your access immediately after cancellation, even if you just paid for a month. Locals is also a garbage nightmare

Somehow I don't think your access would be cut immediately on creatr.nostr.wine I think it would remain as long as it was paid. Pretty sure that's how it works anyways.
I think my favorite part of the creatr relay is that it's now accessible on mobile. It makes my life as a heavy mobile user (not by choice) much nicer as I can access creatr's features without needing to be on a computer.
You can schedule posts, monetize digital assets and have several tiers for your subscribers to choose from.

Why do content creators think that everybody has an unlimited budget for ever more monthly subscriptions? If I were talented, I’d be expanding into the nostr space like my livelihood depended on it.
