After watching this video, I uninstalled core and installed knots. At first I was uneasy, because I had some trouble earlier with core and the data of the blockchain.
I used the uninstall function of core. I installed knots immediately after. It just took over, where core left. Amazing. The whole process took about a minute.

If you are running a node you should switch from Core to Knots immediately, it's very straightforward and you don't need to redo the initial block download.
If you aren't running a node you are a leech and need to get your shit together.
Bitcoin is money and spam filters have always helped maintain this. Other "use cases" create unnecessary demand for block space and are a fiat standard attack on the network.

At the very least, that the vast majority of nodes are running the default software (i.e., core) - most likely completely uncritically in most cases, strikes me as an inherently systemic danger. Even if I were to run a node under the philosophy of blindly facilitating any and all transactions, i would seriously consider running knots with a customized configuration to do so; even if only for the sake of diversifying influence over the network software as a whole.

Is comparison of bitcoin node to Telegram or money really valid ? I mean is every normie supposed to run a node ? or a #bitcoin wallet ?
Or is wallet same as node ? Sorry for my ignorance.. but it gets really confusing with bitcoin wallets , lightning wallets and then #nostr wallets !
Every single bitcoiner should be running a node! Don't trust, verify. If you're not running a node, you're trusting someone else to not lie to you and your not enforcing the rules of Bitcoin that you agree with.
A "wallet" is just the key that proves you have ownership, it should really be called a key or signer. The bitcoin doesnt move into a "wallet", it's in the timechain/UTXO (aka blockchain).
But I heard bitcoiner nodes takes a terabyte of storage ! Besides the technical expertise !
And can you run it on phones ?

A Bitcoin node does take about 1TB to store the timechain. If you want freedom money it REQUIRES responsibility.
Running a Bitcoin node does not take a lot of technical knowledge if you are just doing the basics. There are a lot of guides and a whole #noderunner community to ask questions of.
There has been a lot of confusion for new people bitcoiners about what a Bitcoin vs Lightning node is. For those that came in being introduced to lightning only they get the use case, but not the core values. (Hopefully that makes sense). If you want freedom money and you want to protect your money you run a Bitcoin node.
Lightning nodes run on top of Bitcoin nodes, but you do not have to run a lightning node. Lightning nodes are high harder to run and they require higher end computers. That is where some of the confusion about node running comes in.
A basic Bitcoin node can be run on a raspberry pi, you just have to have enough storage and at least 4 GB of ram. A two terabyte drive is pretty normal now, as it's future proof.
Easy to run Bitcoin node software:
- MyNode
- Start 9
- Umbrel
- Raspblitz (I have not used, but apparently it's similar).

The node is like an accounting system. You can either trust someone else's opinion on the accuracy of these accounts, or verify these accounts yourself.

Part of me thinks, if bitcoin takes so much work and relies on people protecting it, then its probably going to fail at some point. Other part of me thinks that bitcoin is our shot at this new monetary system and we have to do everything to protect it, and the reason it wont fail is because of the inentives people have to maintain it so it is our duty to make good decisions. But if it can fail because of human action, it probably will? I donno, i literally just started running a pruned node on bitcoin core a little while ago after being "into" bitcoin for many years. ๐ now i gotta run something else? Lol computer stuff isnt as easy for me now as when i was young. Should i just stop using bitcoin core at a minimum?
