I added some random relays and #nostr became unusable due to the humongous amounts of posts in my feed. Is there a list of must-have relays so I can reduce the clutter?

You're welcome, i just checked the blockchain size and it looks like it's around 566GB. It took us 14 years of bitcoin's history to reach that size, so it seems you could get by with a 1TB disk. The OS will probably take 4GB of that space, and node software let's say around 2GB.

Still, I got myself a 2TB disk because I didn't want to have to think about it.

2TB for peace of mind. 1TB is good enough for a few years but you have to monitor the block chain size every few months

I don't use #nostr as much as I'd like, because when I try to use my account on a different computer, random things seem to be broken such as my profile picture not appearing, my post history showing only a few posts.

The solution is to ignore the fear-mongerings. There are many nation states involved in mining now. Also, no miner is stupid enough to waste huge amounts of money on rigs and Infrastructure only to then fuck with the network that pays them for a short period of time.
