Holy shit... 2023?! That's how long ago that was?
Ah yes, but you **mined** BitCoins (as they were called then) in 2011 🥳
To be fair, seeing a different balance on Sparrow vs Bluewallet is really what saved my ass, but it's nice that we can extend the gap limit.
I can't remember which one had the smaller gap limit.
You can import xprivs. Although not straight forward, it allowed me to import my failed Lightning node keys to recover my funds.
Seed words for LND are not BIP-39 compliant so I couldn't just use the LND words to recover. I had to get the underlying XPRIV to recover.
Also being able to configure the gap limit also saved my ass. Otherwise I would have had money that I left on the table.

Thoughts on this being more impactful than LoRas?
Yet building your own protocol seems less troublesome even though it is technically the same thing. Like how Telegram made their own blockchain protocol and endorsed it on their app.
The only valid (but not raised yet) argument is that something like this could endorse nostr and I don't believe they want to do that.
Protocol or not, there is not enough surface area of products that have reached mainstream for it to be considered a useful protocol that should be incorporated.
It's like deciding to integrate a remote file sharing protocol when there are 3 others to choose from and so you'd wait for it to become 1 or for at least one of them to become dominant before integrating.
The irony of wanting to build privacy tools for freedom but also wanting to gatekeep who should be able to use those tools.

AFAIK, there is a nostr to RSS feed thing somewhere.. Do you know where that is? You can keep posting to nostr but people like my cousin can consume your content using his RSS reader.

"Spotted"
Skimmed the two videos, they didn't show anything but I'm sure that if they aren't just the same video, they overlap and are from the same camera.
I'm no forensic expert so I'm not gonna spend the hours watching this in full btw.

The only correct answer is to not predict and just stay humble.
One can hope, but do not borrow on your hopes by spending money or credit prematurely based on a hope.
Any chance of getting that thread here? Xitter doesn't let you see threads without logging on and right now it won't let me log in without proving my email which was a nym email that google closed so... You know.
Well, just from this video alone, he's trivializing how much work goes into buying, and even being able to afford 1 BTC, and then restraining yourself from spending it early... All while resisting shitcoins and a tonne of misinformation.
It's like saying it's never been easier to start a business or never been easier to be a landlord of an entire estate (back in say 1940).
I really enjoyed his rich dad poor dad book, and it was my first touch point to understand money before I discovered bitcoin, but just here, he seems to be pushing Bitcoin as a get rich quick scheme (Lepard pushed back a bit: 'many many years').
There's a good reason why that doesn't exist anymore. It's a huge security hole.
If they cache the content or get cloudflair to cache the content for them, then they become a host of the content. Not sure if that is what is happening here.
This is annoying. Got a CSAM report for user-generated content that I'm not even hosting. There's nothing I can delete. Apparently Cloudflare wants me to implement censorship lists.
Nostr clients are not legally required to maintain censorship lists any more so than web browsers like Chrome or Firefox are. There's just Cloudflare policy and guilt by association. Understandably, it's easy to confuse a web application url like iris.to/npub1... for a content host.
Should I implement ever-growing censorship lists, at least for visitors who are not logged in? The problem is, someone can just create a new Nostr account and re-post the links to illegal content ad infinitum. When this happens, maybe Cloudflare will get the point. Or more likely, they'll just delete my account.
Maybe there's some other ISP that allows hosting of applications that don't ship with extralegal censorship lists?
Iris native app via Tauri could be a resilient direction, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a web app in the first place: ease of access, sharing by url and mobile PWAs that bypass app stores.. If you're going to have a native app, actually native-built will probably have better UX.
How are other web clients dealing with this? nostr:npub1v0lxxxxutpvrelsksy8cdhgfux9l6a42hsj2qzquu2zk7vc9qnkszrqj49 nostr:npub16c0nh3dnadzqpm76uctf5hqhe2lny344zsmpm6feee9p5rdxaa9q586nvr nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn

By this logic, proxy sites, translation sites they all fall under this too right?
But there's still a chance that you could mine the next block.
Just like you can never stack enough Bitcoin, you can never mine enough blocks. 😅🚀

Gotta put a ecash nut in the emoji.
First, let's not put words in my mouth. 👍
Second, filtering types of data is objectively removing a feature. Filters are objectively negative things. Not in the "oh my feelings way", they often have positive effects, but they are negative features.
Often times, removing features is a good thing. Especially if it is unused, broken or unwanted.
Since this is not a consensus change, it should be noted that we have time to evaluate the damage and reverse it. We can all switch to knots or do something else if it has negative effects.
I know it's not that simple, but when shit is hitting the fan, that's when people get serious.
