Growing up at an American school in an Arabic country that had been a French colony kids on my playground would effortlessly switch languages mid sentence when they weren’t sure of a word, and others had no issue following the switch. Even many decades later that fluidity amazes me.
The only reason I’m touching one this steep is because I live in it. My new construction I keep under 8:12. Anything steeper is unnecessarily painful to roof.
Hiding out in the shade waiting for the next panel to be cut. There’s a nice breeze to keep cool. Not to much to blow the panels about but really obnoxious when stapling paper.
Great scaffolding from @safetyhoistcompany too. Heard about it recently and it’s awesome for handling a 12:12 roof like this. So glad I’m not nailing shingles at this pitch though.

Restrainable Government is a failed hypothesis.
Good experimental design allows for a plethora of outcomes. The experiments performed thus far show that government always tends towards tyranny not restraint. A successful experiment as we have demonstrated a reliable, if terrible, outcome.
I laughed aloud at your comment and then got schooled by the experimental physicist I married.
Compare this to Morocco, where I grew up, which is an actual police state and has checkpoints all over the place. But there I never had any issue arguing with the cop (or claiming not to speak French) until he gave up and let me go. Because while they were everywhere they were even less trusted by their superiors and so were never empowered to do anything.
Here, if you look at a cop wrong on a bad day, they are empowered to rain down misery on you and piss them off bad enough, they’ll get their brothers in blue to make trouble for you too.

“Unfortunately, issues like this need to be addressed on a case by case basis, which is something the state is entirely too incompetent to ever do.”
This part here! All day long!
Who cares what the parents have to say? The state has removed their voice in such matters where I live.
Here a minor can seek out complete transition surgery, hormones, top surgery, bottom surgery, & in most cases significant cosmetic surgery, and the state (as well as private) insurance is required to cover it, and the medical agents are not allowed to notify the parents. It doesn't matter whether parents are pushing it. It only matters that a teen, already troubled adjusting to the changes in their body during that time of their life, is presented with this as a "risk-free" option by any authority voice in their environment and can then seek out a medical professional who will prescribe and perform it.
(legality of above is per Oregon ORS 731 as revised by HB 2002-2023 which is currently sitting on the governor's desk)
Om namah shivay! Om namah shivay! Om namah shivay! Kali maa
Not peppery but it is mustardy but not spicy. We also have a bunch of red veined sorrel that is kind of tangy.
We’ve been throwing it in our salads this year (at least the red streaks mizuna) version I’ve been growing.
Quite tasty and it provides variety to the green flavor profile.
I’ve got to try to make some more biltong. My stash is running low. Course I don’t know what “real” biltong tastes like, I just know I prefer what I’ve made from online recipes over the sugar heavy American style jerky.
And I even dated a South African girl in high school, really should have learned it then…
did a brisket sous vide, and followed this recipe: https://www.seriouseats.com/sous-vide-barbecue-smoked-bbq-brisket-texas-recipe

the meat was fall apart, melt in your mouth awesome.
it was just rich tasting, unlike anything i've done. after it had rested i cut 3 slices, and i was satisfied for a couple hours.
and I can whomp down a 1 pound steak in a hurry.
i think i was a bit light on the liquid smoke in the bag. but that can be adjusted.

Did something like this a few months back, but started with a 4-5 hour cold smoke instead of liquid smoke. And then tried to crisp it up in the insta-pot air fryer.

Process it through a duck first. #muscovy
#[2] did an answer on this on his show a few months back.
The last section of his expert council Q&A episode 3219.
If I recall the gist was, do it inclusive with an offer of a chunk of your time to help onboard them and then walk through it with them in person and then keep a copy of their wallet info yourself. If it clicks for them they’ll eventually not need you as a trusted 3rd party and can create their own private wallet. If it doesn’t click today but they come back to you in 2 years with renewed interest but having forgotten their access, you can restore it with them.
Its surprising how loud the phone can be just sitting upright in my case and echoing in that little cavity created around the speaker. The buckets got to be next level.
I have an apartment for rent, in Cornelius, OR. Where should I post it, especially to attract BTC folks?
I've got the obvious posting on Craigslist, with a note about accepting BTC (will actually do a discount for BTC and am willing to walk any of my tenants through the wallet setup process if they don't care about BTC and just want the discount)
I know nostr has various different clients some of which may be marketplace oriented, any of them suitable for posting housing?
In case you're in the area and curious, here's the link. I know I'm posting a link that will go stale on a permanent note, but so be it.

Yay for seller financing! 3.5 hours is a bit far for me to go to do development work though. I like to stick to 45 min. from home.
Do you have a title company that will handle transactions in BTC? I've seen a few out of Texas and Florida but none up here in the PNW that I know of. Not that I have a buyer wanting to do a BTC transaction, I can't even find renters wanting to pay BTC.
