I'm talking to a local merchant's association about the feasibility of incentivizing a "local currency" tap-to-pay NFC card backed by ecash in order to save merchants the ~3% +$0.30 credit card processor fees. Across the entire association, the savings would be enormous - it would at least make the association a cashflow-positive entity itself, rather than something that merchants pay fees INTO (assuming the saved CC fees are reinvested in the association/community).

If it works at the merchant's association level, why not step up to the town chamber of commerce? then the city and the county... Even just saving the credit card processor fees alone yields a capital investment that could right back into communities rather than shipping off to SF and Wall Street for no good reason.

The problem becomes the price instability, because on the gentle onboarding ramp, I'm trying to push talk of bitcoin far into the future. and this is where "full dollar backing 1:1 for each dollar entering the system" starts to appear and things get weird. Here's what I asked in the Cashu Telegram:

> Has anyone experimented with using stablecoins to back cashu?

> i've been working on this plan for a local merchants' association to use a local ecash NFC card at participating businesses, with the goal of redirecting their saved credit card processing fees into local community investment (rather than pissing it away to wall street.)

it _can_ work on cashu, but to keep it as approachable as possible at first, I would want every dollar deposited to the mint to be reserve-backed by a dollar held by the merchants' association (and for the mint to denominate everything in USD so as to not confuse the bitcoin-uninitiated). this is the achille's heel of the experiment - the mint balance would be capped by the dollars in reserve and the association would have to really believe in it to put up dollars that might be lost to a big bitcoin drawdown

> a USD-backed and denominated cashu mint would be a far easier pill to swallow to onboard communities to this structure. and then the default lightning version would be an "option" that communities to switch to. and if they want to still 1:1 reserve-match deposits to protect customers from a drawdown, they could still do so with the risk being balanced by the potential upside of bitcoin appreciation: they could skim off some of those gains either for additional community investment in dollars, or use their increased btc purchasing power to deal with suppliers who accept bitcoin.

I'm going to re-listen to this nostr:npub1h8nk2346qezka5cpm8jjh3yl5j88pf4ly2ptu7s6uu55wcfqy0wq36rpev episode https://fountain.fm/episode/DsJfhL0gIuqJMeg4HSFc 1 or 2 or 9 more times. I can't tell if I'm a little too early or right on time to hack some shit together that helps make this a reality.

I want to fully understand this and be trained in initiating the conversation with merchants.

Nice. Yeah, I have vivo too but looking for sandals and ideally copper and leather soles. Good for you on the barefoot. I have been almost 98% exclusively barefoot the last month and so so grateful.

Ok so I actually checked vivo and they have a leather soles sandals...https://www.vivobarefoot.com/us/san-dal-ii-unisex?colour=Obsidian

The price is quite steep... But I might consider it still. Gonna do a bit more research. And check out campers.

I am wanting earthing/grounding sandals, barefeet, ideally with leather soles and copper in the mix. What do you love?

Funny not funny 🀣

It's only crossed my mind in the past and now I'm curious. What's Bitcoin's exact birthday, date and time? What can be considered its birth location? Can we actually know for sure? I'm now pretty curious to dig deep into its natal astrology chart.

Would you say London is valid? Which of these would you consider its birth?

Oooh juicy, just checked the description and yeah, I've been working on a 40 year timeline (I put on pause the last few weeks) but definitely looking at how life on Earth is changing in ways that we can't quite yet fully see definitely influenced by the outer planets who are all shifting signs in big ways for the first time in our lifetimes. Been in deep contemplation of the bifurcation and interested in how we organize and be active participants forging the highest timeline for all of life on Earth powered by decentralization, Bitcoin, open source tech, sovereign agentic AI, circular economies and regenerative culture. Big why I am on Nostr too.

Atyya is a super sweet human being, a Canadian music producer. A decade ago traveled with him to my first official West Coast festival... It was actually in Costa Rica - Envision festival... Once we arrived we went out own way... I was staying with a bunch of folks in a house up the hill, he was camping at the festival.

One of the evenings, I remember eating a mushroom chocolate and suddenly being unable to keep dancing in the crowd, I was feeling everyone around me and behind me too intesely, so I escaped and ventured off into the Art Gallery. I went about standing in front of one incredible visionary art piece after another for what felt like forever, being taken on a journey through what felt like the entire process the artist moved their brush and art tools to paint the piece from start to finish. It was fascinating.

Then at some point while I was in the gallery standing in front of a liece Atyya found me. He was excited to share he'd met a lady friend he was getting cozy with πŸ™ƒ and was checking up on how my festival is going. I was happy for him and also couldn't join him out onto another stage yet... I stayed at the gallery.

We crossed paths multiple times over the years. Last he introduced me to what seemed like a serious girlfriend. I wish I could remember where, might have a been a club in LA or San Francisco or a NYE party somewhere. I have a feeling it was prior to 2020.

2020 onward feels like a weird disconnect for me. I am realizing it's feeling almost like amnesia about connections and friends from various communities... It's partly due to my own legacy social media unplug too the last couple of years...

But, I just checked Atyya's IG and I started crying, moved to tears to find out he is now a father of two!!!!😭πŸ₯ΉπŸŒ πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ§Ώ Check out his music - atyya.komi.io

Yes, in many ways, Nostr aligns with some of the principles of Web5, especially when it comes to decentralization, user control, and privacy, but there are key differences in scope and technology. Here's a comparison between the two:

Nostr vs. Web5: Similarities

1. Decentralization and User Control:

Both Nostr and Web5 emphasize decentralization, meaning no single entity owns or controls the data and interactions. In the case of Nostr, users maintain control over their own data and can choose which servers or relays to use for communication.

Web5 also promotes self-sovereign identity and self-sovereign data, where individuals control their own digital identity and personal information.

2. Privacy and Security:

Both frameworks prioritize privacy. Nostr uses public and private keys for authentication, ensuring that users have secure and private communication.

Web5 aims to ensure privacy by letting users control their own data and identity, avoiding the need for centralized platforms to store or manage personal information.

3. Open and Permissionless:

Nostr is an open protocol, which means anyone can build applications or services on top of it, creating a permissionless system.

Similarly, Web5 is built around open-source protocols and decentralized technologies, empowering users to interact with the internet in a way that doesn't rely on permissioned systems controlled by corporations.

Differences Between Nostr and Web5

1. Scope and Focus:

Nostr is primarily focused on decentralized social media and communication. It is a simple protocol for creating decentralized, censorship-resistant applications, particularly for messaging, microblogging, and social networking.

Web5, on the other hand, has a broader scope. It includes a decentralized identity layer, decentralized data storage, and aims to integrate these ideas with various decentralized web services, such as social media, file sharing, and finance (integrating Bitcoin as a core component).

2. Underlying Technology:

Nostr relies on a relatively lightweight protocol that focuses on decentralizing social interaction. It doesn't require a specific blockchain and uses a network of relays and cryptographic keys for authentication.

Web5 is more closely tied to Bitcoin as its foundation, with plans to integrate decentralized identity and data management through Bitcoin-based protocols. It's a more comprehensive approach to creating a decentralized web infrastructure.

3. Identity and Data Management:

Web5 has a strong focus on decentralized identity (using Decentralized Identifiers or DIDs), where users own and control their personal data across different platforms.

Nostr, while decentralized, doesn’t have a strong emphasis on user identity or data management as a whole. It focuses more on communication and messaging between users.

So, Is Nostr a Part of Web5?

While Nostr shares a lot of the principles behind Web5, Nostr is not directly part of Web5, but it could potentially be integrated into a Web5 ecosystem. Web5 is more about providing the infrastructure to support decentralized identities, data ownership, and services across the web, while Nostr is a decentralized social media protocol focused on messaging and interaction.

In summary, Nostr is a decentralized social media protocol that shares many of the values of Web5, such as privacy, decentralization, and user control, but Web5 aims to offer a broader, more comprehensive approach to the decentralized web, particularly around identity and data sovereignty, with Bitcoin as the backbone.

I've always been kind of a late bloomer and slightly somewhat bullied for that.

When I was 10, my family moved from small rural hometown to the capital of my eastern European home country. On the first day of my new school I remember finding my brand new 5th grade class in the school yard (tradition was all classes get grouped and organized with their teacher, before the bell rings and everyone goes to their classroom). As soon as I joined the group of brand new classmates, a boy at least two+ heads taller than me asked "You sure you are not with the 1st graders over there?"

In 8th grade I'd joined a new English specializing school. Everyone was new to each other and we were gonna be together for the next 5 years. I was the youngest in the class. For two years I was flat chested and the smallest. I think it was before 10th grade when in one summer I grew a wooping 10 cm. taller and my boobs finally sprouted. Then I had to endure jokes by teenage boys about having socks under that bra. πŸ˜…

There has been an interesting process I have been witnessing within myself in the last couple of months from the time around Thanksgiving, where I feel I just suddenly grew up 10 centimeters/inches or feet taller in wisdom and maturation. It started with a sudden revelation one day as I was taking a shower. I was contemplating on a ten year progression of personal processes and insights around motherhood.

And maybe it is this last half a year of the decade of my thirties that initates my arriving from maiden to mother, God willing (a little late as usual or maybe not). It's to be revealed, in any case I sure feel more of a wise woman today than even a few weeks ago. πŸ˜ŠπŸŒ•πŸŒΉπŸ•ŠοΈβ€οΈβ€πŸ”₯🧿
