The first bank in Europe implemented bitcoin withdrawals and deposits. I tested a full cycle of depositing €100,- buying bitcoin, withdrawing it to bluewallet and sending it back to Revolut. Buying bitcoin at Revolut is rather costly, they charge 1,5% and there is a tiny 0.x% spread in comparison with some exchanges. The withdrawal cost is excessive though: €3,95. As you can see in the screenshot they charge a ridiculous fee. Also I had to wait 23 minutes before the transaction was send to the mempool. Revolut clearly overpaid to get their transactions through in the next block. Apparently they haven’t heard of RBF. For the return I paid 6 sats/vb instead of the 13 that revolut paid… conclusion: for a full kyc experience this is far too expensive and slow. Revolut apparently is not yet up to speed with #bitcoin. The question is, when lightning? Lost 28,5k sats for this test. You can thank me by zapping me 😉

I can understand the appeal of homeschooling, but their are many things learnt at school that are not taught. Like socialisation, making friends, being in a team, communication with a wide variety of other people, etc. Some of my best life-long friends are my school friends.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news again, but one bad decision by an otherwise perfect kid can kill or maim them just as easily as one raised by bad parents. That is to say nothing about the other abuses they will suffer as regular members of society.

It’s sad to think about but that doesn’t change reality.

By having kids, you are gambling with someone else’s life. You may be improving the odds by putting in effort as a parent, but the risks are all still non-zero.

I'm a fan of homeschooling as a way to give kids a better chance at a fruitful and productive life, and play the long game. For so long, the state and the kinds of people who rise up in those systems have had too much power over the education system.

They rig it in favour of themselves, and the education bureaucrats couldn't care less about your child. They will teach all kinds of nonsense statist propaganda, and not teach useful life skills to your kid anyway.

Your child in statist school has a chance of facing bullying by other kids, and anti social behaviour generally in public schooling systems. 'Private schooling' doesn't even seem that much better because the curriculum and style still has to follow a lot of the public schooling methods.

Also remember with public schooling, your kid won't get the time to focus and properly learn things. Instead it's 50 minute classes where they don't want to be there, and the bell rings and it's time for the next class. The teachers have to teach at the pace of the slowest kid in class. No time to build up a deep focus on things. No time to really become creatively engaged in a project, and be a real self starter who sees a project to fruition.

I believe homeschooling and unschooling can change this dynamic. It's a perfect match for bitcoiners who are generally more freedom minded.

This became a lot more real to me recently, as I had a son this year and I intend to homeschool him + future kids our family has.

I have hundreds of burner emails used for various services throughout the years in order to not link my identity across them. Have lost access to most. It is a massive pain and mental burden.

Few appreciate how great it is that we use nostr without attaching an email or phone number to our accounts.

"Fiat art vs bitcoin art" may sound silly, and maybe it is silly.

But remember: art and culture often emerge from economic systems.

So advocating for sound art and culture can help us fight the battle on cultural, aesthetic, and philosophical grounds.

It will help us make bitcoin relatable and approachable.

Consider how fake fiat post-modern art is: banana on the wall and toilets worth millions. Because "experts" say so,... So fiat!

Now consider art that touches the soul for its aesthetic beauty, strive for mastery, heroing sacrifice and responsibility.

I believe most people would prefer a return to the sound art movement.

Bitcoin can elicit a new art era. A new sound art and philosophy era carrying with it the principles of bitcoin can usher in a new bitcoin economic system.
