Effect change anonymously. Let every man make known what kind of government would command his respect, and that will be one step towards obtaining it. -Thoreau, on Civil Disobedience Experienced policy advisor who promotes open and transparent government and free-market regulatory frameworks.

Assume your highest cost basis as a basis for that, and pay additional taxes. That way you can't be put in a box and if anything you overpaid. That or use the price of the btc at the last transaction/deposit.

Then learn from your mistakes and use bitcoin the way it was meant to be used.

I was reading about the latest news on EU surveillance plans and prepared a blog post and a podcast about it.

The Neural Network Podcast covering the latest news on EU Surveillance plans:

What is your opinion? Are the EU’s surveillance plans crossing the line, or are they a necessary evil?

#privacy #surveillance #privacysky #security

Is this pod a tirely generated and narrated by ai? Voices seem off.

Yes, that's the one. It's responsible for the EU travel rule, and every other country as well. Countries and regulators are in the implementation phase. Takes a few years for policy to become law, and law to become enforced.

I suggest everyone developing value transfer tech do so anonymously. If there are balls to grab, governments will grab them.

This is coming worldwide, and it's called the travel rule, originally created by the financial action task force in 2018 when they revised Recommendation 15.

Legislation has passed IN ALL COUNTRIES with various degrees of implementation. Search for "Travel rule [enter country name here]" to see how it's implemented there.

Make no mistake, us, Canada, el Salvador, etc etc will ultimately be compliant with this.

I am a civil servant and have actually drafted the law to impose this requirement in my country, and I'm now trying to speak up about it to warn everyone. If you know a podcast who may want to discuss just tell them to reach out.

The open source micro-kernel is interesting but idk enough about embedded to comment more. could this micro kernel be used for ASIC control boards? could it run on an ESP32? How does it connect to secure elements?

The KeyOS piece sounds interesting with the sandboxing. I wonder how it compares to nostr:npub1235tem4hfn34edqh8hxfja9amty73998f0eagnuu4zm423s9e8ksdg0ht5? How does it compare to nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll? How does it compare to nostr:npub1a00wj229auzjswlq4s77y4u8eqdx5k9ppatgl8rtv8va65f6mwksum9q3h?

I like that it's in Rust, mainly because I can poke around an embedded Rust project.

Bluetooth was a big red flag but I'd be interesting in a protocol tutorial video or similar. Something just a step more understandable than an RFC spec, but that's cool too.

Use Cake Wallet once upon a time so cool to see it's sill around.

Wtf is "Magic Backup"? And how does it compare to nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg? (cc: nostr:npub136jg2fnty2z5vwcnh7p4jpckrs3tk0dpueftgs7mznuuaenjpfps6tjnxf)? I assume Shamir sharding is so it can support shitcoins so that's not cool. But if it's open source, I wonder how FROST or other Schnorr schemes might be added as an option for master key.

They're charging money, but it seems that it could be self-hosted in time. Again thinking of nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll and how it might be paired with the Magic Bakcups.

If it had an e-Ink screen like nostr:npub1a00wj229auzjswlq4s77y4u8eqdx5k9ppatgl8rtv8va65f6mwksum9q3h I'd probably buy one.

For my security posture and understanding, there are too many radios on this thing so i"ll be sticking with a dedicated device.

Well for one daylight computer co use an OS with full Google as fat as I know, so I think they should be lauded on the hardware front not the OS side of things.

I listened to something for privacy interview on it. Worth a listen

Well done there. All covid-era dictators should be thrown in the trash bin, at least those who haven't admitted to wrong doing and seen error of their ways.

Sorry nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5, but an app with 6 trackers is unusable for me. #Nostr means freedom. I will cancel my account immediately. #Privacy

Yes I'm really confused by fountain.... Nostr and bitcoin people behind it, but they refuse to make their app open source with reproducible builds.

I did point this out and one of the project people addressed my concerns. I'll post his perspective here below my comment.

As for privacy, way to go! There's an amazing app on F-Droid called insular. Check it out and use it.

I saw this video as well. Indicates that doge will only issue "recommendations". Which I think rings true. The government can simply ignore the recommendations.

We shall see how things play out.

Implement Plan B now as your new Plan A now.

This is my Plan A. How I choose to live my life.

Find someplace at least an hour away from any major city, live in a place where you can build your new homestead. Ensure that you have access to fresh private water supply like a spring, or well with a reverse osmosis filtration system. Diversify your power generation with wind and solar energy. Use wood stoves and fireplaces for heating and cooking.

Have highspeed satellite internet and/or actual fiber internet if your rural town is blessed with such things. Get a landline phone, ham radio, and a meshtastic network for communications if possible. That way you can keep in touch no matter what.

Ensure that you are able to raise your own livestock for food. Grow your own fruits and vegetables. Preserve everything you can for long term storage in case of emergencies.

Lock and load up enough firearms and archery equipment to make Rambo blush. Ensure your homestead is rigged up like Home Alone 2 with many Kevin McAlister levels of deadly hilarious demoralizing insane booby traps for intruders.

Build your own study with enough books to rival your local library. Back up all of your important audio files, video files, games, and any other important media on at least 3 external hard drives. Run your own home media servers to have your own streaming services using FOSS like Jellyfin and Audiobook Shelf. To host local audio and video streaming services without the internet.

Archive your favorite websites with information you wouldnt want to lose too. That way if the internet goes away forever. You will at least have everything that was really important to you from your online digital life.

Don't be caught with your pants down, ass up, and fucked before your shit hits the fan. This is the wisest course of action.

Huzzah!

May I suggest considering emp scenarios as well, and heirloom seeds? 👌

Plausable deniability is a thing. Move your btc to an intermediary wallet, reset your hardware wallet (check it works by restoring it etc) then move back to your hardware. Depending on the hardware wallet you use there's no way for them to ide tofy you. (E. G. Ledger isn't a good option they likely tracking all sort of things from you, IP etc etc.). Use a VPN while doing all this to help.

Yep hardware level bypass is a thing. I harped about the Intel management engine on intel chips (and has same and I'm sure apple silicone does too) that allow access to your hardware (including networking) without you even knowing it.

I'm suspecting thats how snowden could see people mouses move from the CIA computer, and see everything others did.

Wouldn't be Christmas without some good doom-porn popping up in underground forums.
