Your bitcoins can be stolen if you (or rather your wallets) use vulnerable random number generators
It's kind of like a deeper "trial". They hope you get hooked to their systems and so in the future they can profit.
There will always be disagreement and thus fragmentation. But that leads to competition and ultimately improvement.
You can put media wherever you want. In the text, in a centralized server, in a (web)torrent or something new. Ideally you should create a NIP to formally specify your idea though, so others can follow you 😅
That's decentralization 🤷♂️
No. You can create your own NIPs and implement them in your own client (or relay). "Official" NIPs try to simply "sync" different clients. But clients sometimes do what they want. A good example are reposts. Fiatjaf hates them and there is no NIP for them (there used to be a basic one but it was taken down) but most clients support them.
I disagree. The "design" of Nostr is quite basic. You can add virtually anything you want through some NIP.
I'm not sure what you mean. For example, nostr.build could run a relay, and in that case a relay would be hosting images.
I don't know if any relay is doing it, but they definitely can if they want to.
They can
Don't forget that your profile pic depends on which relay you ask
Maybe governments as we know them become irrelevant in the not so distant future.
I can see the problem. If it makes you feel better, it's likely that all clients will suffer 🤣
You mean now it's harder to keep track of references when you reference a replaceable event?
You mean for threads? Or what?
Oh ok. I was almost jealous that you found a bitcoin-friendly employer 😅
Bitcoin price is too volatile right now to use it as a unit of account for wages in the majority of cases. You are better off setting the price in USD (or whatever) and then getting paid in BTC at the exchange rate of the moment. If you set the price in BTC then the risk of one of the parties disliking the agreement sooner rather than later is high, which is an undesirable situation especially for a long term relationship.
What's the difference between this and chatting over LN (eg. Sphinx Chat)?
In WoS your fees can go as high as 100% of your total holdings (if they decide to rug you). In theory this can't happen in Muun (assuming they use proper submarine swaps, which I don't know if it's the case because they are not very transparent about this process).
Yes. They are actually on chain even if you received them as lightning.
