The ice and snow have broken many branches from our trees. This lone elm in our pasture is bending as best it can but has lost a few.
14 F with windchill of -16 F.
Power was out for an hour or so but crews were able to restore a few minutes ago.
We have backup generator power if need be but didn’t have to fire it up this time.
Coffee is hot, family and animals are fed and wifey is napping on the couch.

Good morning nostr, the wind is blowing so hard right now, in gusts. Must be the hard cold front getting ready to blast Texas with freezing temps. We're in the 70's now, but tonite it'll be below freezing. 🥶🥶
After church we'll be getting extra firewood for the stove and hay for the animals, then maybe tackle the shop cleanup again. But for now i'll enjoy my coffee. Welcome to the revolution!
She’s been hunting with me since she was 18 months. She’s shot a deer every year since she was 5. Started with a crossbow and has been using a rifle for three years now. She’s 13.
These are the times we truly connect and have meaningful conversations without distractions. I don’t give two hoots if she fills her tag or not.
I know that one day soon, she’ll be out of the house and we’ll have these memories to remember together.

We do the same here. It’s a balancing act to get the freezer space open for meat when we start butchering. Good to see others taking control of their food sovereignty. Well done! 👏
I have a frame I need to use as well. Been holding onto it for two years and haven’t made the time. It’s time.
