Wine is for wankers. There’s a million different kinds because it’s more art than science, and nature affects it way more. I can ask for a pint of my favorite IPA just about anywhere in town and I know what it’s going to taste like. If I’m at a restaurant, I have to ask for a wine list, decide to pay 2x on something I’ve never heard of and pray to god that it’s going to be decent. Who knows if it will be there next time I go and it’s rarely at another restaurant. But it’s definitely better than beer with certain types of food. We just need more consistency and less pretentiousness.
