Plug and play solutions will come for mainstream and people willing to trust them in general. It will get easier and likely cheaper as with any tech imo.

Can confirm… I’m highly regarded and Derek along with others walked me through it, pretty easy. Anyone can run a node, open lightning channels and run a nostr relay. It’s not too hard, if you don’t, it stems from apathy not a lack of technical skills

I’m seeing lots of notes about how the average pleb can’t, or won’t set up their own non-custodial lightning node. I’m calling BS.

I’m an average pleb without a technical background. I set up my bitcoin node, lightning node and a couple of channels. It was a weekend project, and a lot of fun.

The best part was I didn’t do it alone. The team at Start9 was incredible, and through their Telegram channel they walked me through any issues I ran into ( #[0] , #[1] , #[2] )

#[3] , #[4] , #[5] , and the rest of the #Nodestrich crew were incredibly helpful in getting my lightning channels up and running with lots of inbound liquidity. I highly encourage you to reach out to any one of them if you’re thinking about starting your own non-custodial lightning node.

One of the best thing on Nostr is to use 4-5 client Apps at the same time. Not all of them have all features.. which is great. Here's the reason to use each one of them..

1) Snort.social - Ability to add image on new post

2) Astral.ninja - Works great on Brave. lots of dev features such as to look at post JSON

3) Damus - View zaps by post, DMs and notifications.

4) Gossip - not worry about connecting to relays.. auto refresh and is not data hog

5) Current App - built in Wallet with one-click Zap, Post with images
