Violinist and teacher, building a homestead on raw land in between lessons and concerts. Fascinated by how we can develop resilience in our lives, in our families, in our communities. I'm excited about freedom tech and circular economies, and am deeply grateful for the devs and advocates who are helping build tools for a better future.

Nothing horrifying, but a few frustrations:

Some accounts that I follow suddenly disappear from my feed and it turns out I'm not following them anymore. I wish I knew how that happened or at least had a way to track it.

I often can't see replies to posts. At first I assumed that it was because of accounts that I've muted, but I've only muted 2 and this happens a lot. Then today I did a search for a post and I saw the answer show up in my search, but I can't see it in the thread.

That's the definition of malinformation: it's true, but it might make people do things that we don't like.

"The banks are inherently unstable, but it's malinformation to say so because people might try to take their money out."

"Sure, these are legitimate points about the public health decisions, but we must censor them because they will make people doubt public health officials."

Not specifically on gardening - I'm much more focused on perennials than annuals - but here are some of my favorite books that have guided our choices for our land:

Gaia's Garden

Tree Crops

The Resilient Farm and Homestead

Trees of Power

Home-Scale Forest Garden

Chelsea Green publishers has a great selection, and they have frequent sales with major discounts (35, 50% off).

One of my first bitcoin podcast episodes was Guy Swann reading a piece by Lyn Alden. In explaining POW vs POS, she also explained the backing of fiat: proof of force. That was an eye-opener for me.

Backed by energy, backed by wealth, or "use this or else."

So sweet 💕 We have a pregnant mama now and I can't wait to see the kid(s)!

I've been slacking on the check-ins but not on the exercise! It's been walks only for the past week and I hit an hour or more except for our coldest day where the ice made things treacherous. I tried to supplement with bodyweight exercise but definitely didn't hit the hour on Saturday! Otherwise I'm good, and finally ready to pick up my kettlebell again.

There are terrible consequences to making victimhood a status symbol.

I think the answer to your question is: both. The more miserable you are the more you look for an ideology that supports your misery, and the more deeply you go into the ideology that supports misery the more miserable you get.

Most of his work on stoves seems focused on rocket mass heaters (which are on our list, but not for this next building). I'll look again, though. Thank you!

omg - that's hilarious.

So odd how that word is not "hate speech" when it's used to bully people or show sketchy data.

Hello friends! I’m looking for any insights about wood stoves that you might have. We’re looking for one for a small space, primarily for heat although 2 cooking burners on top would be great. I’ve put more about the building below. If you use a wood stove: any favorite (or not) brands? Anything you wish you had known or considered when you first bought yours?

^As of December. It's 16 x 24. Concrete pad, brick stem walls, above which we'll build a lumber frame which will be filled (about 9 inches deep) with straw and mud, so no thermal mass but excellent insulation. It's on a part of our land which now has electric access, but we'll be heating with wood and probably expanding our current solar set-up for most of our other energy needs. Eventually we’ll build a larger cob house (hopefully with a rocket mass heater!), but this shed will be multipurpose for the next few years. One large space, likely with a sleeping loft.

Wood that we burn: primarily ash, birch, poplar. We have lots of little black locusts that eventually we’ll use for firewood as well as a ton of pine, which I know isn't ideal but is sometimes in the burn pile.

hmmm

Io pensavo che il problema con i custom zap fosse una questione di relay ma forse é Alby. Se riesco a risolvere, ti faccio sapere.

Per me sono compatibili, ma non per i "custom zaps." Per te gli zaps non funzionano mai con Primal?
