Thanks for the reply. I've just had a read of the website. I think if I was a merchant wanting to take bitcoin payments and I had to pay more than the current debit or credit cards I just wouldn't bother.
I would expect the lightning payments to be almost free. That would be much better. It's a shame.
I've been talking to my local butcher about this for a while. Takes ages to explain it all. If I then told him the fees would be higher I know what he'd say.
Not trying to shoot the messenger btw 😀
The money printer is what did all that damage to the US and the UK (where I am). Tariffs won't fix that. As long as money (the yard stick by which all is measured) is broken everything else will be broken. Tariffs are at best a sticking plaster.
Grassroots adoption starts with small steps, like integrating Bitcoin into your business.
A payment terminal that offers both Bitcoin and fiat is a powerful tool. Even if most people don’t use it right away, simply seeing Bitcoin at the point of sale creates an important touchpoint, one that can spark curiosity and, over time, lead to greater interest and adoption.
Businesses have the power to plant that seed, with help from nostr:npub1musqetp57matzsjcwd2y7tvxe59h85v74pqasnqxk7fhpwazzjpseyv5kr nostr:npub1q7ky4k857h0gx6d4e2t84dsrgms6yg6x93wexk8c2hy8f0efs3tq2lu8h4

Does a terminal that does both exist currently? Coincorner might have one but I'm not sure
It's over 20p kWh where I live. There is no way you can mine here without going bankrupt
Really sad for the families. But the first thought that came to mind was Atlas Shrugged when everything starts falling apart and nobody knows why
Tariffs are always paid by the consumer in some way. Either reduced quality or higher prices.
I had a zap on #olas but I can't find it anywhere. It didn't go to my lightning wallet and I can't see it in the default wallet in #olas.
What am I missing?
Probably because they don't need to "win" as they've already won
If you’re a Nostur user, you can post a photo that will show up on Olas. To do this, go to the image feed and then initiate a new post from there. Choose an image, add a caption and post it. The image will show up in Olas, Nostur, and other apps that support that event kind. Amazing work nostr:npub1n0sturny6w9zn2wwexju3m6asu7zh7jnv2jt2kx6tlmfhs7thq0qnflahe

Do you know if location info is stripped from the image upload?
I've seen so much of this stuff that I just don't care what people have to say about bitcoin now. There's not much new under the sun. It's better to be out in the sun.
And nothing helps that more than giving up alcohol in my experience.
🚨 This is not a drill 🚨
Everyone who cares about their right to privacy and personal freedom should write to their MPs now.
In the UK Labour are rushing through a Bill that could give the government the power not only to spy on your bank accounts, but to remove money directly from them.
This is an appalling overreach of state power. More fundamentally, it reverses the presumption of innocence that is the keystone of the justice system in any fair society. If the state believes I have committed a crime, it must prove that beyond reasonable doubt in front of a jury of my peers. Until it does that, I am innocent. Punishment before proof is the mark of the tyrant.
And why is this so important? Because transacting freely is fundamental to your ability to live a free and unencumbered life in an open society. Your decisions, your opinions, and your desires are all reflected in your transacting and spending choices. Fettering these is the simplest way for an authoritarian state to control you.
We defeated these attempts before. We must defeat them again.

Another reason to use bitcoin and cash.
It's a lot of trust in the people who are, as you say, most likely to seize it
I was stopped at which mint to choose. Didn't get any further than that
It's a brilliant horrible film. The everyday scenes of the family whilst the smoke comes out of the chimneys is terrible. It's hard to explain the feeling you get when you watch it.
