Yeah I totally agree with you. It's a bit stale round here at the moment.

But we are all responsible for spicing it up. The nerds provided the platform... It's up to us to make it pop. 🤪🤪🤣🤣

Proof of Work: Artist Edition

Coming from a long stretch on legacy platforms, I just realized something obvious: even though I've already shared some music here, I've barely posted photos or material from my journey.

Which is a bit strange, since I’m here to share what I do.

So I’m going to start changing that. I’ll be sharing old and new material (photos, recordings, fragments), not as nostalgia, but as context. I want this page to actually reflect where I come from and what I do, to feel more like an artist page.

Nostr feels refreshing in all the right ways. A lot of what’s broken or exhausting about legacy platforms simply doesn’t exist here. That’s a huge part of the appeal, and I’m convinced this place will grow into something really important. For me, it already is.

The challenge, of course, is that for artists who already have decades of listeners and followers elsewhere, Nostr feels like starting from zero again. Most of the people who care about my work aren’t here yet, and without an established music-focused audience and their favorite artists, it’s not immediately clear why they would be.

So instead of waiting, I’ll build my presence here from the ground up once again. By showing the work. By making this place feel familiar when curiosity eventually kicks in for those who follow me on other platforms.

Another real challenge is discoverability. I’m brand new here as an artist, and while there are some great music podcasts, like Lightning Thrashes by nostr:nprofile1qyg8wumn8ghj7cfwdehhxtnvdakz7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcqyzsf2t4srftxagc8wrcn9elsgzz6450ewyz95z5478nse53etrkx6hp5hgd which have been very kind in helping spread the word, they are still few and far between. Beyond that, discoverability is still evolving. Early efforts exist, but it’s not yet easy for music lovers to find a broad range of handmade music.

Bitcoiners and builders laid the groundwork. Now it’s time to widen the circle. Not by returning to fiat culture or centralized platforms, but by bringing more art, music, and human signal into the mix, which I believe will benefit Nostr as it grows.

Awesome man! We need more of this and I'm going to try doing the same

A calm intro to Nostr. No hype

I made this for some newbie onboarding, could possible expand on it later to include more instruction.

Ok I have an update on message privacy thanks nostr:nprofile1qqsdaw38re28weaadk8wca0weetptke30gpmql69jy6tq0njxcq9v4gpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejsz9rhwden5te0wfjkccte9ejxzmt4wvhxjmcf59eu0 for the advice.

I installed Ox Chat, signed with Amber,

Now my messages are nip17(?)

So they can't be seen with the npub

That includes contents and when I send a new message (or receive I think)(still need to test that) the new message including person's name etc are no longer visable.

What's more, I don't need to make the message in oxchat,

Instead I can do it on primal or amethyst and it has the private nip17 option in purple next to the message box. Which is neat, cause I can message someone off their profile for example instead of opening oxchat and trying to route it that way.

I think this has fixed the message privacy issue.

Now to deal with the posts...

I now understand that all posts are public facing for ever signed by me.

In future ( looks at the tech nerds)

It would be great if we have an option for only showing to followers.

Or making it private.

That will change the game for growing the user base.

Interesting though the reviews are a little off putting.

I have both wavlakes and fountain.

Fountain is behind a paywall (which I won't pay unless I find it to be a useful tool and a replacement for most the centralized stuff.

I have uploaded 1 song to both platforms.

Or to wavlakes and it's populated to fountain.fm (honestly it's a little confusing but I'll figure it out soon)

I'll check out music stacker
