Made this Signet Ring for one of them this week. It's made of Platinum. The advantage of platinum is that it's chewie. I couldn't find another word to describe it properly but just imagine that if you wear an silver ring 24/7 over decades the Ring will disappear. It's hard but the surface will go away you won't be able to read the signet anymore but Platinum will stay. The advantage to white gold is the color. White gold will always have kind of yellow fade and I think it's pretty stupid to take the only yellow precious metal and make it white. At the moment the gold price is so high that it doesn't matter if you take Platinum or White Gold the specific weight makes it equal. I love platinum although I prefer yellow gold.
