Great work getting the BTC holdings of US Marshals. Hope David is a man of his word.

Good to know, thank you. Are there any other ways that I can backup my phone in case something happens to it?

nostr:npub1a4a2crapc5ql3kupx870yr9zmgha9gqptp0z9dn898jdyj0jvhgql6xk7e Android has better support for VPNs, better internal OS sandboxing in some areas, etc.

iOS privacy and security advantages are mostly in 2 areas:

1) the kernel, since Linux is resistant to introducing isolation, memory safe languages and exploit protections requiring lots of changes

2) app sandbox, due to backwards compatibility requiring Android to take years to catch up in many areas via new OS versions and target API levels improving things

We improve both a fair bit.

Is seedvault working again? I tried to backup my phone and the backup cuts off mid way.

I'm very excited to finally launch Opportunity Cost today!

You can now price the internet in bitcoin!

It's extremely rewarding to take something from a nagging idea in your mind to a working product.

Here's how we did it:

As someone who has been focused on educating people about bitcoin for 8 years, I'm always thinking about the "top of funnel" and how we can bring more people into bitcoin.

As a bitcoiner, I'm always looking for tools to make my life easier.

Opportunity Cost tries to solve for both.

For people to understand why they need bitcoin they need a way to recognize it's value prop quickly. By enabling them to download a simple extension that allows them to track the price of things in bitcoin over time we hope that people begin to recognize the power of hard money.

Those who already live on a bitcoin standard need a simple tool that can easily help them understand how much bitcoin they're spending on a day-to-day basis. Opportunity Cost solves for that.

I've often had ideas for informational bitcoin products/tools that never made it to launch because I never felt comfortable taking the risk to pay a developer to build it from scratch.

AI completely changes the game. In a span of three hours one Saturday afternoon I was able to build a working prototype via a combination of ChatGPT and Replit.

After playing with the prototype in my browsers I was successfully able to convince myself that this product was something worth pursuing. I then found nostr:npub1zhvr5ckhxvmq6hy2ja2zfwkaw7cz2yj3j0rz2y337ww3e79vxnjq6k4vc4 here on Nostr, reached out to him, showed him the app and asked if he thought he could turn it into a fully functioning product.

He liked the idea, understood how I wanted it to work because of the prototype I built, and took the reins from there.

Within two weeks of Moses using his spare time to work on the app, we had a fully functioning and stable product.

The longest part of this process has been getting the app approved by the app stores. Google approved this morning and Firefox is still pending.

We're entering a brave new world in which "idea guys" who have been scoffed at historically have agency to bring their ideas to life in the form of a prototype and then hand it off to a dev who can do the rest.

Huge shout out to nostr:npub1zhvr5ckhxvmq6hy2ja2zfwkaw7cz2yj3j0rz2y337ww3e79vxnjq6k4vc4 and Ed, Head of Ops at TFTC, for their work on this. Also, nostr:npub1zxu639qym0esxnn7rzrt48wycmfhdu3e5yvzwx7ja3t84zyc2r8qz8cx2y and Anthony Ronning for their advice along the way.

Go download the extension and let us know what you think! The extension is only the first iteration of Opportunity Cost.

Well done brother

I have an old cumputer that I want to get rid of. I no longer have the power cable to charge it and turn on so that I can wipe it. I just opened it up, removed the SSD. Can I safely dispose or is there anything else that I need to do?

Back in 2010, Dwight K. Schrute, as acting manager of The Office issued all Dunder Mifflin employees of the Scranton branch a 21-digit copier code.

He was on to something.

⚡️ FUCK WINDOWS - I'm a little ashamed to tell you why I've been very inactive today, but it's a scandal!

I bought a used Thinkpad (I plan to take nostr:npub1f4uyypghstsd8l4sxng4ptwzk6awfm3mf9ux0yallfrgkm6mj6es50r407 to the next level), when I first turned it on I did everything properly, but they forced me to create an Outlook account to activate Windows. Today I spent a lot of time trying to remove my Outlook account from my Microsoft pc account, impossible to find so I ask their AI "copilot" he gives me outdated documentation I lose patience and I decide to do a reinstallation of the complete system so that I make rather a local account during my reset rather than an account linked to Outlook I wait several minutes and arrives at 100% the reinstallation of the operating system has bug he offers me to cancel.

In a fit of nerves I find a way to delete my Outlook account completely (which will only be effective in 60 days) I accept. BUT IT REMAINS IN MY WINDOWS as an administrator account.

The solution is chatGPT which gives it to me in a bit of a rogue mode (I've already published the prompt) which tells me to disconnect your pc from the internet and it's only then that Windows suggests you create a local account otherwise it's impossible.

I end up creating a local account, I make it administrator, I reboot and I finally manage to delete this Microsoft account linked to my Outlook. At the same time, I purge my PC of all the crap like teams, onedrive, and the whole office suite. I don't want to hear any more about these Trojans.

I was this close to sticking a magnet on my SSD ( I know it worked on HDDs back in the day)

Before I press publish, I almost forgot: yes, I know Linux, but unfortunately I can't play with it, which is the only thing that stops me every time.

I've been a Windows user my entire life. After going down the digital sovereignty rabbit hole, I bought a new laptop and flashed Pop_OS (a Linux distro). I am not a dev or very technologically savy. I would recommend Pop_OS. It's not as complicated or scary as it looks. Been operating with Linux for the last 2 years and been having a great experience. Try it out

Thank you for having done this. It really improved my experience with Nostr
