We homeschool. We were attending a family conference and there is a children's section. One of the children's teachers told our 7 year old she should go to school because shes not learning good at home. By learning, I think the teacher meant sitting still in class. Any thoughts on the value of learning to sit still in class for homeschool kids?

And if there is anything I can do here on the ground, I am happy to help. I am non technical in the extreme, but would be happy to help in whatever way I am able. I love the freedom and savings that BTC could be here, but we need Lighting to mobile on and off ramps.

Is there a good off ramp in Zambia? Most of my friends here dont have a bank account. They deal in cash and mobile money. So the real benefit of strike was the mobile money to lighting connection. USDT was a plus but not necessary.

They're probably just in my imagination, but I could see Amazon finding something offensive in a classic like the Tolkien, Chesterton, etc... and silently editing the text/audio using AI. Or simply removing a title that they don't like. My question is, how can I owne my digital audiobook library and ensure its not tampered with.

Borderless payments, but I cant find a good off ramp here in Zambia. Someone more technical than me please build something here.

I am always a little worried about digital book burners, but am also an avid consumer of audio books and 'have' an Audible library. Is there a way to back up audible to avoid the digital book burners? #Farenheit451

Isnt this the point of the 2nd ammendment.

100%? What about the supply of goods side of things? It seems to me that if there is decreasing supply (chickens laying eggs) of a good and demand is constant (people want to eat the same amount of eggs) then price will increase. Is there a different name for this type of increase than inflation? This is a genuine question on my part.

I love this ideal, but the lack of off ramps here in Zambia is killing usage. @strike took care of this for a while, hut they've given up.

“When You're Too Busy to Rest (And God Notices)

Here's a command that most people have never heard of: every seven years, God told His people to let their farmland rest. No planting. No harvesting. Just trust that He would provide.

This wasn't agricultural advice—it was a faith test.

God was essentially saying, "I want you to prove that you trust Me more than your productivity. Stop working and watch Me work for you."

But Israel had a problem. They were entrepreneurs at heart. The idea of voluntarily stopping their income for an entire year felt financially irresponsible. Surely God didn't mean it literally, right? Surely He'd understand if they just worked a little bit during the seventh year?

So they ignored it. Year after year. Decade after decade. For 490 years, they skipped 70 Sabbath years, convincing themselves that their endless hustle was actually faithfulness to God.

Sound familiar?

We live in a culture that has turned exhaustion into a badge of honor. We wear our busyness like a trophy and mistake burnout for dedication. We've convinced ourselves that more hours equal more holiness, that grinding harder shows we're more committed to God's purposes.

But God notices when we ignore His design for rest. He sees when we push past the limits He built into creation. And sometimes, when we won't rest voluntarily, He enforces it involuntarily.

Israel discovered this the hard way. After 490 years of ignoring God's rest commands, He gave them a 70-year timeout in Babylonian exile. The land got its Sabbath rest, whether they liked it or not.

The question isn't whether you'll rest—it's whether you'll choose to rest or be forced to rest. God's design for rhythm isn't a suggestion you can optimize away. It's a boundary that protects you from yourself.

Let's pray: God, I confess that I've confused busyness with faithfulness. Help me to see rest not as laziness, but as obedience. Give me the courage to trust You enough to stop working and start resting in the rhythm You designed.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

About halfway throuhh graduate school I started taking sabath rest seriously. One of the best decisions I made during that period of my life.

Wonder what he's been building that will blow our minds when he drops it on us...

Lost nsec? If my account ever disappears this would be the reason.

I'm genuinely curious to verify this price. I just checked with my butcher and I can get a side of beef for 125.99zmw/kg ~$2.50/lb. What is a side of beef going for in the US? #farmstr #beef #inflation

It's crazy how long it takes nostr:nprofile1qqsvn0dkjt80raqrxd470c98n7zrdehmcvj6p5hgw3kyku6zyd8z0fqpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqzrthwden5te0dehhxtnvdakquw0j5p to process an osko.

Been sitting here for 10 minutes, checking the transaction details, checking the strike app, thinking I must have accidentally sent the money somewhere else, nope.

Just taking ages to process I hope.

Ive mostly stopped using strike. I was really excited when they first operated in Zambia and enjoyed using it, but their core focus seems to be moving towards 21 captital and something over there. It is really frustrating. The promise was so high but in the end it was a flop. Im literally bacm to using paypal. 😥

There are suspension upgrades, but it seems like the a lot of the overlanding modifications and upgrades are for the older Delicas like the L300 and L400. My model the D5 has been a bit harder to find upgrades for. Also finding parts has been a challenge in Zambia. Here it is out by the Kafue a few months back.

Symptom of a sick system. #tax #highered #education

Just living life on my android and not worrying about the Apple app store. The bummer is that Google is farming me for data. I hope we get a different phone OS at some point.

I think, my use is an exception more than the rule. I mostly follow accounts that post summaries of research I am interested in or similar content. There is still trash to wade throught, but a lot of good info too.

Beautiful! This is inspiring. I've always wanted to heat hot water with a compost pile, but haven't yet.

If I categorize my digital life into producer vs consumer. I tend to be more of a consumer on my smart phone, but more of a producer on my laptop. Doest this hold true for others?

Thanks for this. It'd be nice if there is something smoother.

What is the easiest way to repost a x or LinkedIn post on nostr? I find myself drifting onto linkedin and nostr and running into interesting ideas over on those platforms, but I'd rather get the nostr takes from folks on nostr about them than x or LinkedIn. Is there something smoother than just posting a link? #asknostr #nostr

When will we have the first AI translation of the Bible? #AI #Bible

Yep! Thanks for that.

We talked about gloves in the safety section lessons at the start of term, but this was actually the first lab we were able to purchase gloves for.

I took Chem about 17 years ago, and it has been really fun to teach. The amazing thing now is all the resources youtube and how you can use AI as a tutor to create practice problems and test your conceptual understanding. My favorite youtube channel is called "Chad's prep". I assign videos from there for my students. I would post a link, but I dont know how to post a tracking free YouTube link.

I think zaps might be what beats the centeralized algorithm. Even though im a net payer in zaps it keeps me coming back and I love being able to directly support people who post interesting info.
