Something about me is I pretty much hate obligatory fun.

Concerts, weddings, music festivals, New Year’s Eve, clubbing, vacations, live sporting events.

These all feel like things you’re expected or supposed to like and I just never have.

The nice thing about being older is that I no longer pretend to like them.

Be your authentic self.

I don't even pretend to enjoy these things. I like what I like and it is what it is.

It’s not that you dislike fun—it’s that you resist manufactured fun.

Social pressure when you become older tends to reduce and we become more appreciative of the small moments that makes us happy!

Spontaneous fun is the best

You forgot bitcoin conferences in that list

Currently at a wedding 😂

So hard to make small talk with people when you’re a Bitcoin and Bitcoin adjacent topics freak lol

I can understand some of these... but concerts? Do you usually buy tickets to concerts that you don't expect to enjoy?

Even with bands I really like I just don’t enjoy the concert experience

Okay, yeah, that makes sense too.

I've always enjoyed funerals more than weddings.

Whre’re you at young

Same. Can’t stand weddings.

nostr:npub1rtlqca8r6auyaw5n5h3l5422dm4sry5dzfee4696fqe8s6qgudks7djtfs's day of fun:

A perfect day

Amen to that.

So… you’re not coming to my birthday party?

For me, I would add bars and drinking alcohol to the list

self-sufficient

Obligations are overrated. I like choice.

Christmas. 😱

Amen

You like motorboating though?

So you’re staying home on the 4th of July? 😆

💯. Forced fun sucks.

maybe you're not attending these types of events with the right people?

i've always found family weddings to be super joyous, but i love the people i'm around. same for vacations, if i go with some good old friends or family, its always a wonderful time.

now, concerts or sporting events, i agree with you, but those are more 'passive' events where you are a spectator vs. a participant like in a wedding/vacation.

Wow, I thought I was alone in feeling this way. I would add birthdays to the list.

I will say when I’m “forced” to go, I usually enjoy myself and I’m glad I did it.

Except clubbing, always hated it and couldn’t wait for it to be over. Mostly because it eventually ended with someone getting in an argument or fight. That and I was always cheap so spending $200+ on a $40 bottle of whatever we were drinking just to get a table (VIP) always hurt lol.

I felt vacation. Kind of a sneaky chore. I’ll just chill in my neck of the woods.

Fucking hate destination vacations

It is a chore

You’re taking the wrong vacations. The rest I can agree with.

Never been a fan of vacations. Been on lots and lots. All different kinds.

Life’s too short to fake joy at events that don’t resonate. Authenticity over social pressure every time.

Well put, healthy truth @Hodl 😅👌

Saying out loud what so many of us have been thinking for a long time now.

Social events are no substitute for true socializing.

I’m very much like this as well
