I got it to respect the Twitter files drop. Cutting it off soon, Elon has enough cash.

I am surrounded by bulls and I’m not on twitter anymore so I don’t see that. Why are they bearish?
Because it’s easier for people to dismiss or disrespect what they don’t understand than it is to take the time to learn.
One by one they will bend the knee. I’m already seeing it happen, and when they post their npub it’s always with some sort of statement like “ughhhh ok I’ll TRY it”

To be fair, on boarding nostr is not at all intuitive to normies such as myself. Doesn’t seem like a product targeting everyone but mostly bitcoiners.. etc

Some feel more important there. They may be addicted to the attention/influence, which cannot obtained by converting to a more equal playing field.
What they tell me in dms is just waving hands. Just hating for the sake of hating.
The Nostr derangement syndrome is almost template from the early bitcoin derangement syndrome.
Specialists can’t see why/how it works, because it’s simple and doesn’t work on they way they wanted to work. Fully platonic projection.

The only valid criticism I’ve heard, which is the least expressed by the checkmarks is the lack of functioning key delegation.
Checks (or similar) could be linked to some sort of expertise voted for by peers in a given location and/or subject. It’s one way of reestablishing micro-communities within a larger global network, reducing inequality and helping to repair the social fabric. Map cities, towns & villages. Create an identity, voting and crowdfunding (payments) system to allow people to serve their communities & the contribute to the issues that matter most. Rest control from the macro back to the micro.
main bitcoiner hate I’ve seen are those heavily invested in Zion and other “competing” web5 projects. Not sure if I’m just reading into it though.
TL;DR:
Zion is just a copy/pasta clone of Sphinx. Those guys are DOA, couldn’t build something even if they wanted. The synonym ppl at least acknowledge Nostr is interesting but are too busy with zeroconf derp. No one defends ActivityPub. The DID folks are lost in corporate-think trappings.
Ultimately ppl are just in denial because Nostr just works, and blindsided them.
The changing tides of network effects are slow moving at first especially. We're still the early bunch that swam against the tide. Sooner or later people won't just want to be on Nostr they'll have no option.

I had it for a month and apart from edit function gave nothing else. It’s way overpriced and still has advertising.
It’s so weird. As someone who had the check before the pay and experience the unfair extra engagement to the new check which is completely useless (aside from longer videos) I can’t really understand.

Twitter categorically defines the space. They are the monopoly. It's been adopted, first mover advantage, network effect etc...
NOSTR has to define a new category for success. I understand that it has the ability to do that, but it's not clear if it will do that...

I think it was the same kind of reaction when people saw the bitcoin white paper for the first time in the cryptography mailing list:
"This has been tried before, it's not going to work. I can already name you several reasons why..."
Then they don't try it and go on with their daily lives without investing the time needed to really verify their first thought.

Needs to be easier to verify yourself. No way a reporter with the New York Times can easily get their npub registered at nytimes.com. It was more work than expected for all of us very technical employees to get verified at cash.app

Not so long on Nostr as yourself here, but already of the blue my friend. REALLY felt it wasn't adding any value. On the contrary, it seemed my braincells were more under attack. 🤷🏻♂️
Short term: ux is really rough
Mid/Long term: spam will have to be seriously reckoned with and I'm not convinced nostr can support a robust solution (other than monetary ones that normies and nocoiners will never ever accept)
Also: inertia, I spent 6 years evangelizing the fediverse and precious few bothered to even check it out.
