Can anyone name a better all-around exercise than burpees?

* Great cardio

* No equipment needed

* Each rep burns ~half a calorie

* Works a plethora of muscle groups

Walking backwards on an incline treadmill that's OFF leaning back pushing through your toes.

Do that for 10-20mins before your burpees.

Running with incline.

air squats or variations, e.g. with jumps…

or push-ups

I think those are probably similar effective and can bring variation.

Agree though, Burpee is a Killer 🔥

Kettlebell swings? Although it requires a piece of equipment.

That’s a solid one!

I used the Airofit cardio strengthening tool for past 4 months during off season and made a great difference to the start of my sports season… also playing saxophone or trumpet etc will help tremendously! 😃

Climbing stuff, but that requires stuff to climb.

Air jacks, high knee run, low skaters.

But nothing's gonna beat burpies😉

It's a great exercise for out of shape moms.

Doesn't build strength. Doesn't build any useful cardiovascular movement. It's basically the Crossfit of exercises.

Muscle-ups

Uphill Sprints.

Sex 😏

Has the highest puke per rep ratio of any workout too.

I like burpees variations, ie. 3 pushups per jump

Bear crawls are pretty bad too

Swim mate!

Pushing a heavy sled

Squats

Pull ups

Flipping a heavy tire

Burpees are not very good at improving muscle strength, muscle size, tendon/ligament strength, and bone density. Great for breaking a sweat if that’s the goal, but in that case sports/recreational activities accomplish the same and are much more enjoyable imo

Deadlifts? Works pretty much every muscle group. Great albeit brief cardio, and you can't do it very frequently. Equipment is not super expensive and lasts decades. Your neighbors will hate but also fear you.

Anyway, the body is probably too complicated for one type of excersize to fit all. E.g. cardio and strength have completely different and sometimes contradictory requirements.

Fwiw I believe Taleb's latest recipe is deadlifts + cycling.

The best is what you enjoy enough to do regularly. Find your anchor and build around it.

Belchees. Few things bring such existential relief.

depends on what you’re training for?

If you're training for absolutely nothing, burpees are fantastic.

Have you read “The Creature from Jekyll Island” yet? https://a.co/d/aDC2Lr6

Gardening, you actually get something done while exercising

That could be planting burpee seeds

Swimming

Swimming

Swim

* Great cardio

* No equipment needed

* Works a plethora of muscle groups (high step run in the pool too)

* Water resistance for muscle growth

* Little impact to joints and tendons

* Fulfill your Poseidon aesthetic

I often do burpees when I do crossfit 💪

Animal moves combined with dancing.

No boring reps, but fun.

Plus, it’s effective.

Add some hand balances and whoop!
