😂 this is a pager. it sends and receives text messages, emails and gets voicemails.

its assigned a phone #. most pagers just get voicemails, but you have to call the pager # to check them.

in this case, i dont use a smartphone, so i have a landline VOIP phone, and the pager...

Back in the day, pagers only displayed a number that was meant for you to call back. They didn’t do fancy things like VM 🤣

si senorita. this is what happened at the turn of the millennium. its a t-52 (korean clone of the motorola p9000).

I remember having to mash a number 4 times to let someone know it was ME. Lol. Technology is wild at how it advances now.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure if you’re scanning the right frequency you can literally just freely read pager messages you’re picking up. 😂

Totally agree with you - been teaching Bitcoin for years now, and we do get a ton of criticism both from nocoiners and shitcoiners all the time. On the other hand it only makes us strongr (Nostr pun intended)

Our legend begin with something called FIDONet, before the InterNet, since 1994 in China Mainland.

At the time we used BlueWave to receive letters, and FrontDoor to maintain the connection, just like the clients and relays in nostr.

And from the FIDOer, turn out some great guys, at least in China. Somebody like Pony Ma(Tencent), Lei Jun(xiaomi), Vincent Qiu(WPS), and more.

What I want to say, it's the great time, both of FIDONet and nostr. Looking forward to the second golden era.

I trawl marketplace and craigslist for a 1991 Hinda Prelude in good condition. Go figure. Hahaha. All of our beloved stuff is now collectible.
