I feel sad for all the people who recommend Bitcoin wallets and Nostr clients to friends and family very enthusiastically over the years only to have these things blow up in their faces every single time.

The rugging never endsā¦
Itās devastating.
It really sucks gifting someone some Bitcoin and then have to come back to them 6 months later and tell them then need to move their bitcoin.
At least if I set them up with seed words, that will endure.
All the Monero wallets I ever recommended are just fine.
What's wrong with BTC wallets?
because Monero isn't a threat to the State
But a transparent public blockchain that can be surveilled by any government on the planet is

What's happened now?? š
early adopters dilemma
I'm trying to purple pill people on Mastodon. The more they argue, the more interesting it becomes. I like it.
My only issue has ever been to engage them in the first place.

The best way to promote nostr among your friends is to be active in it. They will download the nostr client just to read your tweets.
What a fragile generation.
This happens when you step out and try new things. Donāt crumble and cry because something wasnāt perfect first try.
I'm much more conservative now in my recommendations.
But if it's only posting tests or images and reacting to posts, it's okay after spending some initial effort finding people who post stuff you're really interested / people who post frequently on random but entertaining stuff. The initial month is a hurdle š
Basic notes and replies (and maybe 60% threads) is fine. It's the other stuff that's all over the place š
it's a long game. at some point it will just be 'go to this site' or 'download this app' and individual will just use it. the idea of it being Nostr or Bitcoin will just fade into the background and it'll become Internet and Money. that's the future I'm waiting for.
What should we recommend in a decentralized world? What would a recommendation engine look like?
