I know how to work. I know how to parent. I know how to maintain my home. I know how to party with my friends... but I don't think I know how to relax.
How do you relax?

For me, eating spaghetti, smoking a joint, and taking a hot bath (in that order)

I don’t relax (according to my interpretation of the word). Haven’t done so for probably three or more decades. To manage that I change pace, often. I do this by daily ish walks 45+ mins. A sporadic meditation practice and a pretty solid mindfulness routine. Earlier this year I had the closest thing to a holiday in 35 years, where I probably did relax in some way. We were away from the usual home routine long enough to get a taste. Hoping to do that again next year.
Getting a massage helps. Stretching and meditating helps. Good luck, it's really hard to relax 🫂

I used to have this problem. For me it was both a mindset and also hormonal. I finally realized I had made it to my destination already. Goals are great, but maybe not for us. We will achieve as a default. Do not think about what you want to achieve because you already are. Get the sense you already have achieved. You have made it. *ahhhhh*
But then my hormones leveled out in my 40s and I am so chill now 😆
Warning: when you downshift into relaxation, you might worry it is depression. No, you just might be calm for once. Happily calm.
Bikes and books
You take a break from all the stuff ur good at…and just chill.
Focus on the present (breath ie) instead on the thoughts.
One simple hack: exhale longer than you inhale. Test it yourself for 7+ minutes
journaling, walk into the nature or by the promenade, watch waves or watch a fire.
All of those have the element of self-hypnosis.
btw, when I say journaling, I am talking about unfiltered thoughts, anything your brain is busy about and how you feel! 🫂
