I know everybody's excited about the SEC losing in court, and it is indeed an important victory, but it's worth bearing in mind that Gensler knew he was acting outside the law long before the verdict. The largest institutions care less about what is legal than what they can get away with.

Given how long it takes the courts to rule, it is a reminder that in the context of the government's own misconduct, there are limits to the utility of law.

The legal system allows government entities to act in complete impunity for 1-3 years as they know any legal challenges will take that long. Its an incredibly flawed process

But you know what they say Eddie, there are no dishonest outlaws.

Look at mccoffee.

…and they are accumulating as much as possible while hating

Exactly

I don't reall see this as an important step for Bitcoin. We have discussed this today here. From my point of view it is as important as an Elon musk that reports that he has some day last year sold some Bitcoin. It is just the gamblers that react on it. That is what we've seen today again. That's noise to me. Not the signal. The Google anouncement today in El Salvador is more signal to me.

Folks getting excited about winning battles when there's no end in sight to the war.

Take away the money printer and all the rest will collapse

Dump excess fiat for metal disks or (if you must) digital tokens

I can't imagine how you feel.

The State is the State is the State

Well said

💯%

An ETF is a fiat game, it has no bearing on giving people access to Bitcoin - rather, it has the opposite effect,

-> locking people into fiat with exposure to Bitcoin volatility only.

Yes but in the fight against tyranny the strongest weapons are 1) insisting State actors honor their promises of legal & human rights (Vaclav Havel) and 2) withdrawal of support for the regime (Etienne de la Boetie)

Take your ball, leave and make sure they know why the game has ended.

Dang, why did you have to rain on my victory with sober logic…..

Government officers very rarely bear any costs(financial or other) for their decisions.

The fact that the SEC has been blatantly breaking the law for years by rejecting a spot Bitcoin ETF, and bitcoiners are celebrating today's tiny court victory that still doesn't even fix the problem, is pretty powerful testament to how broken the system really is.

Best guess was that he was acting outside the law to delay upward momentum in bitcoin adoption as long as possible. He is a tool.

Now if anything goes wrong down the road, say Grayscale blows up and everyone loses a bunch of money, SEC can say "we tried to warn you."

the Bitcoin cookie will definitely crumble.

🎯!!!!

Indeed, the issue isn't any given ruling in the court, its that the government can do whatever it wants until its stopped by the courts years later.

💯💯💯💯

Thanks Edward.

Now try spending a little more time on nostr even though you will be preaching to the choir.

The solution then is to make sure that as many people as possible are playing the same game.

Each of us have a sacred responsibility to continually push back against tyranny and make sure their struggle is as real as ours.

So he should have ran to avoid prosecution?

wasn’t excited… just another dirty game. Same political theater!

The government is above the law, no matter what they claim.

How can you theorize about laws sitting in rusia?

What's the SEC? Yes there have been court posts about activists acquitted in court which in English means free right? I've asked but got no answer. I understand some people are on different time zones and busy with their own lame lives. Meanwhile I'm still getting emails about Donald Trump in court and vkictims are those that voted for Joe Biden. I didn't vote that round. I voted when he was up against Hillary. My case would be how the American white people won their case to not allow me to work a paid full time job and now might lose part time job tho last I heard the main manager is for Stull everyone having jobs. However being in a state with white supremism and allowing everyone jobs = less hours less money.

Man fuck a government, i'm moving into the woods

There is a similar case in Switzerland against FINMA. They have been acting, we believe outside the law, and we did appeal to the judge now.

In the case of FINMA, using their normal ability to make small practical adjustments to the law, the completely reversed the principles of the law to impose discrimination against Bitcoin.

the legal ping pong has started and the judge is now waiting for the first reply of the FINMA :)

here here brother & don't some just know it, it's like a game to some of them.. not all but certainly my recent half decade experience of the one's I know is that of the above.

How about this? All of the branches (of government) work for Fiat currency and any branch challenge will be only as strong as the alternative to Fiat funding of which there is none.

Chris Collins founder of HUD. I contacted him but haven't heard back from him. He helps the homeless but again it's another one of those things where the law wants me to only get help from people who help outlaws. I called and texted him and he said he received the same technical difficulties on his end about texting me back or something. Hurricane Idalia is now over. Waiting to hear from people. Getting another local job is not the answer. Getting a job outside of Florida like I was originally going to do should be the plan. Ryan too said not offering anything. Press freedom only helps people who do report not taking reporting.

There are 3 threats I've noticed. 1) covid a lab in Florida. 2) the day before I left salvation army the interfaith place closed their office doors so that I couldn't get my suitcase out. Pushed me to make a decision to spend more money on luggage and go back to target to get a duffle bag that I paid for instead of putting all of my stuff in a large trash bag like everyone else. I got the hell out of there the next morning. And the security guy was the mommas boy who was a jerk who always call the cops. 3) hurricane idalia the airports were closed so no one could leave or come by an airplane while the air force is allowed to fly.

Red and blue lights again

Twitter or X showed me a post from BBC News about a girl who was in a hospital in a locked down ward needing a transfer she harmed herself moved 200+miles from home separated from family was the reason and she died. Diagnosed with autism by a doctor. I have tried to speak against this but it's not working.
