To be fair, Iām a Gen-Xer so yes, I do believe Millenials and voting age Gen-Zers share responsibility for our current state of affairs.
I appreciate your point of view and your concern for your kids. They didnāt ask for whatās coming. But the fact is, democracy is just an unstable form of government; It works for a while, but once people realize they can use a tyrannical government to vote money into their own pockets, the system collapses. Itās just the nature of the game. You canāt vote your way out of it. The parasite class is simply too big now.
Maybe something better will rise from the ashes. Maybe not. But in the meantime my focus is on maximizing enjoyment of the time I have left, trying as best I can to protect my assets while draining the system of resources, and hoping we keep this house of cards alive for another couple decades, maybe three, until Iām too old to care.
Is that the optimal strategy? Is it āpsychopathic,ā as you say? Maybe. Not sure. Donāt care. But Iām 10x happier as a toxic libertarian than I was as an angry Republican, so thereās that.
Ben Franklin agreed with your point about Democracy...We need to re-learn our history. It's easy to be cynical, but more productive to be curious.
Article IV, Section 4
of the United States Constitution states:
āThe United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.ā
