How is Bitchat different from Briar? Doesn't it offer the same functionality?
Yes albeit briar doesn't really have users and its permissioned (requires to scan qr code to the other phone) whilst bitchat is fully open, which works better during protests etc. (bitchat is more like the old firechat, but then open source)
Extremely exciting to see why nostr is needed but also how it is the solution live to a global audience
