First round plunge at 45F for 3:30 mins

then sauna at 170F for 20 mins,

Second round plunge for 5 mins,

Then sauna again for 15 mins.

Proud of myself for doing the cold plunge, been wanting to integrate that into my sauna routine.

That’s solid sir 🫡

How much of a bitch were you? Swearing a lot? 😂

No swearing, I just do resonate tuning, which sounds kinda like om chanting in hinduism. Don’t really know why that is just what comes out.

I’ve never heard of anyone doing that before as a coping mechanism. Good on you bro! 😂

that's cool Erik & funny for sum reason*/ that's IT - sum Reason* lol

Missing it....it's one of the purest drugs there is

As a psychonaut who has done more than two dozen types of psychotropics; I can heartily say that this is true.

I am constantly surprised by this fact, and that the play in the dosage if you will is how extreme you go on the ends of temperaturere. It’s really wild.

LFG 🔥

I have a solid thesis about hormesis.

There are several hormetic stress responses that I’m familiar with.

The most common in order:

-exercise stress

-fasting stress

-heat stress

-cold stress

-phytochemical stress (eating broccoli sprouts (sulphuriphane/polyphenol)

Hmm, I wonder how mildly ‘poisonous’ (really just some gastro upset) mushrooms would fit into that?

This is my favorite.

15 mins at around 52 degrees

20 mins sauna at highest temp sauna will go

15 mins at 52 degrees

20 mins sauna

20 mins meditation

It fixes anything that’s wrong

Both my sauna and cold plunge are ‘manuals’ lol.

Wood fired sauna (hottest I got it was 195F), and the cold plunge (which is a big 3000 gallon old redwood water tank that I chopped the top off) sits under a canopy of redwoods which keeps it pretty cool. In the winter it ranges from 38F to about 50F depending on the weather.

I got a big as stove in the redwood tank too to make it into a hot tub when I want, but it takes like 10 hours of just burning shitloads of wood to heat up. It’s pretty sweet once I get it up to temp tho.

That’s kind of sweet though. Something enjoyable about the process

*_*

nice

Heat it with a miner/miners 🤓

Did you ever give yoga a go?

More men need to take up #yoga. I found it way too late in life. It has been a true game changer.

Found yoga through P90X back in 2009. Game changer indeed.

Right? Yoga, for me, has been a real journey that started as a sort of exercise and then emerged into a totally new world.

The asana or movement aspect of yoga is just the tip of the iceberg.

Perfect.

unfortunately there's a dearth of real yogis 🙏

Agreed, but thankfully I am married to one. I do still infuriate her when I don’t follow her teachings as instructed.

See clip below.

lol

so am I

beautiful shala 👀

Looks like I still have some depth to explore. I was just surprised at how challenging it could be and it did wonders for my back issues so I incorporated into my routine.

It’s floating around at the back of my mind as a way to get some good stretching in, something that I’m desiring more since working out more consistently and being sore more consitantly.

Guess it’s just another one of the things I’ll have to add to the health repertoire that is slowly expanding. Thanks for the nudge.

Totally understood. I’ll keep nudging from time to time.

You have my word that if you do #yoga twice a week for a month there’ll be no going back.

been an Ashtangi for 10 years now.

its a great supplement to seated meditation.

and I would take being able to do the Primary Series well

over being one of these gym bros any day.

if you can do that, you're already basically a superhero.

its great because you do the same (very difficult) thing every time so you get an index of how you're performing regularly,

and theres not anything woo about it.

👍

nostr:npub1lxzaxzge0jq9u9cecucctdt5lslwgp7hcxmp2l0wn8r2ecjenwasu6svxa just read your profile. Add to the conversation here please. The #Yoga journey is like no other, yes?

I have a small personal mission to get more men into doing yoga. Come for the Asana, stay for the real yoga journey.

just jumped in.

100% agree.

Nah…🥶

If able to do this, it’s a wonderful thing. Got initiated in Oslo years ago.

I worry my heart would give up on me if I did the sana/cold plunge/sauna/cold plunge. I guess if it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger 💪
