I wrote a little bit on this if it helps :

Exploring use cases are often the best bridge between deep tech and sales/marketing. One would figure out what users need and build around it. Creating value would be a win for all.
Nah, too rogue =) And yea!
I don’t understand why Americans try to eat rice with a fork when a spoon can scoop a gracious amount
I hope you are doing ok Jack. I remember when my dad used to do this, towards the last few days of his fast, he would just rest and read. I hope you're not overexerting and can rest more.
I think this happened when Elon backed away from using Bitcoin to buy and sell goods at Tesla for the reason of harm to the environment - something along the lines of jeopardising some environmental grant from the gov't that Tesla depended on. Saylor quickly stepped in to bring together all major bitcoin miners to establish some commitment towards renewables . I read the report - and while i can't remember the specific details, I remember it had minimal established input and was multiplied to get a nominal reference. I also remember thinking it was so much bollocks.
In Francis's recent expose - he spoke about how there was a need for control and core devs were not giving in and one of the other options was through miners. It reminded me of the bitcoin mining council
A large portion of the article is a "he said - she said" fights between both parties, while the context of the surveillance act barely gets covered. A great way to distract people is to split them up and get them fighting with each other while their fundamental rights gets stripped away.
Listened to Michael Saylor on the nostr:npub1r8l06leee9kjlam0slmky7h8j9zme9ca32erypgqtyu6t2gnhshs3jx5dk podcast. It's 3 months old, but sheds some light on the ARK funding story.
TL;DW: Saylor strongly believes in *OSSIFICATION NOW*. From that POV, protocol development is a liability.
Some quotes (and thoughts)👇
"You only get to play God once. And Satoshi played God. And you can say 'well Satoshi got to do it, why can't I?' Well the answer is Satoshi did it, the reason we're talking about Satoshi is 'cause the other 100,000 would-be Satoshis failed. If you read the history of the world, work your way through 10,000 pages of Western history, there will be thousands and thousands and thousands of episodes of 'alpha male thinks he was put on this earth, you know, to change everything', full of hubris [...] he's gotta do more, change more, etcetera.'" (53:34) "Bitcoin Core developers, or protocol developers, they want to fix something, or they want to make a contribution, because it's in their DNA, but developers are just the lawyers of cyberspace. When a lawyer shows up at the capital, they gotta make a law to save you from yourself, and the more laws they make, the more they cripple the economy, until eventually there's so many laws that the entire civilization collapses under its own weight." (58:06) "The world is full of people that need something to do. I would say, the real key to wisdom, channel your energy constructively. If you're gonna do something, improve Lightning, build an application, persuade someone to adopt Bitcoin as a reserve asset, educate someone… these are all constructive things. Destructive, dilutive, distractive things are: fight with random people 'cause they want to fight with you, attack the core network and make it confusing and introduce anxiety, and confusion and fear, uncertainty and doubt into the base layer. Right? And then attempt to imprint your ego, you know, on the base protocol, you know? Like, 'I gotta introduce this so my name will go down in history forever'." (2:38:55) My view: it's understandable to want Bitcoin to behave like the granite under Manhattan (his analogy); a solid bedrock that never changes. Especially if you truly believe Bitcoin will take over the world as SoV-only and "there is no second best". But IMO this is wishful thinking. While I agree it's near-impossible for an alt to overtake Bitcoin, I do think adoption could stall.
Luckily, Bitcoin isn't really a natural element. It's spontaneous order, more like language. Hard to change and no one can dictate changes, but if market wants it to change, it can.
Furthermore, despite Stephan asking a few questions in that direction, Saylor mostly failed to distinguish between protocol upgrades and general software maintenance.
Arguing against any hard/soft forks is one thing, but Bitcoin Core 26.0 can obviously not last for centuries...
Having said that, Saylor is of course free to not upgrade anymore and stick to Bitcoin Core 26.0 for as long as he lives.
TL;DR : “Satoshi is God” and don’t make anymore changes because “God did it that way”
Often times people who justify their actions to “God said so” tend to have some undiscovered stories. Just saying
this is true. Oftentimes I don't understand why the immediate reaction is to shame the people who give feedback when it was never a personal thing to begin with. And often those who shame people are backed by the madness of the crowd and it gets overwhelming just watching it unfold. On a diff note, I was reading Grow the Pie by Alex Edmans, I should do a book review on it. You might like it.
He was like the flesh and blood equivalent of a DKNY dress, you know it's not your style but it's right there so you try it on anyway - Carrie.
Lol, the lines are hilarious. Just the break I needed today. Alright breaktime is really over now
There are so many amazing people out there, but after a while, you just want to be with the one who makes you laugh - Mr Big.
Gotta say, Mr Big was incredibly charming, I can totally see why Carrie melted. I don’t know what to think abt Carrie going back to Aiden, in And Just Like That. I mean that whole tall, hunky, furniture making, dog loving bit is hot but predictable.
Alright, break time is over.
thanks jeroen. I guess i was more curious on the differences of body mass, muscle vs fat and metabolic rate. I have higher metabolic rate, low bone density and higher fats. My sister on the hand has more muscle and low fats, lower metabolic rate, high bone density, and often has different reaction. Jack i guess has high bone density, lean with barely much fats and high metabolic rate hence curious on the different outcomes. Some of us here do the sea salt + distilled water so i don't know how the mineral loss impacts the body during fasting as I have never measured it.
wow, day 4. How are you feeling energy wise ? You barely have any fats to burn. And how do you balance the weight loss ? I struggle with this - i went from 44kg to 42kg in 2 days and losing weight wasn't the goal.
that's interesting. He is not wrong in the sense that your pairing with RFK will hurt Biden. But its a fair competition, its the right way to compete so that the people will pick the best. If anything, you'll should be good enough to hurt Trump too. But he is wrong in wanting political strategies for the democrats, because this is how true democracy gets tarnished.
In the 70s and 80s, the Appalachian people had stronger ties with the democratic side not for environmental reasons or abortion or anything that makes headline news, but simple because they listened to the people. After that they swapped sides and remained with the conservatives because the working class could not relate to the democrats (JD Vance wrote about this in his book Hillbilly Elegy)
At the end of the day, its about the people. That's all it should be about.
I also read Ro Khanna's book on entrepreneurial nation, in advocating manufacturing, it was a good book, he was transparent on a lot of political activities that went behind the scene. I hope his passion in advocating for the people remains.
Anybody who has operated any technology would know that maintenance, improvement is required. Your laptop won't last your forever. They know devs are needed. The question is if they control the devs to do what they want.
They can't control the 'Core Devs' hence they can't control Bitcoin and that is the real problem.
Payment system is a no brainer. If you go to countries like East Timur, Cambodia, Laos, the currency is so shitty that locals can't afford local goods and are unable to contribute in even circulating local economy. The use cases can on and on.
But those in "power" would spin the use cases so hard because they want control of bitcoin development. This is where it gets very dangerous and worrying.
"FIRE THE CORE DEVS"
a reminder...

TL;DR - incredibly smart people do not want to sacrifice bitcoin development for quick returns, says coinbase ceo who no longer supports on-chain payments for bitcoin and actively supports shitcoin.
On a diff note, the miners control part is interesting. I recall someone organising a bitcoin mining council before.
