I had a wonky 20 hour layover in Helsinki over new years.
I reached out to someone in my Bitcoin network and they got me in touch with someone, who got me in touch with someone else, who offered to pick me up, show me around, and let me crash at their place.
We had an absolutely fantastic time last night and I got to experience a more local experience of new years in Helsinki. My son has had about 5 hours of outdoor time today. The older boys from next door let him help build their snow fort, kept him busy for another two hours in the afternoon ๐

We've finally had some real snow, which is a godsend as I'm solo parenting for most of the week. So far today, we've been to the shop with the sledge and stopped by the sledging hill on the way home. Then we got back and all the neighbourhood kids were outside so my son stayed out to play. Hours of free, wholesome entertainment ๐
I read the show notes! I like when they contain time stamps with a summary of the topic and any relevant links that were mentioned during the show. Also a plus if they are formatted clearly (some seem to smush everything into one paragraph, making them difficult to read).

Tldr; The winner of Miss Finland 2025 made a throwaway post in which she wrote "Going for a Chinese" and made an eye-pulling gesture. This sparked outrage in the media and some Finnish politicians copied the gesture in "solidarity". She ended up losing her title.
Nothing to do with my cousin-in-law but she has the same first name as the Miss Finland at the centre of the scandal, and some media outlets mistakenly linked to her social media accounts, sending an army of trolls her way ๐คฆโโ๏ธ

I'm the same, never stayed in a job for more than a year. Didn't misbehave, just too autistic to stuff myself into the 9 to 5 mould ๐

I'm having the reverse experience; people actually see and engage with my posts on Nostr. On Twitter I was tweeting to crickets
I actually have an audience here because I'm not being suppressed by the algorithm. And the people are cool here

Twitter (before it was X) froze my follower count for years between 2020 and 2023. I was unnaturally stuck between 660 and 670 followers for that whole period. Eventually it got unfrozen, but I've still only gained about 50 followers since then. They must not like what I have to say ๐
