Guessing primal or something wiped it, its just a flag on the profile.
I may just use a settings note instead to avoid this
really sad this is what the “accepted” way to onboard new people into zaps now. This isn’t what I was thinking when I created them. I guess I we’re just rebuilding the old system now 😕
We just got a grant from the HRF for damus android so now I am looking into a part time rust dev to help me accelerate the release, so yes, depending on your definition of soon.
what makes liking better in primal? just curious. do you have damus note zaps enabled or is primal just easier to zap?
there isn’t a pro version per say, just early access. All this will be released on the appstore version in the future.
and for loading threads, something like the loading line in browsers

good point. I added command results to nostr for this reason. You literally couldn’t even know if something was saved before that.
Now I just need to propagate this to the UI more often 🤔
activitypub is too hard to build on. I gave up and switched to nostr instead. Much easier and users actually own their data.
It also leads to other questions: what kind of design decisions lead to a reduction of anxiety. anxiety-reducing design 🤔
this is something I think about a lot after I added the bubble popup that one time. Apps can make you way more anxious just from small design decisions. Such power 🤯

yes, clients use the lightning address in your profile for sending zaps. this works with any lightning enabled nostr client. You may only see the zap on nostr if the lightning address has zap support (wallet of satoshi, primal, alby, my lightning node, etc)
We can’t switch to a more decentralized model of fetching notes because it requires much more hardening and validation. The gossip model enables many new attacks on the original version of damus. Switching to the local relay model fixes many of these attacks which is why I am implementing that first.
People like to knock on damus for this but it’s not as simple as just implementing a relay nip.

The query is only half the problem, note size limits is the other half. Also i thought we removed the prefix thing from the spec.

- store my time
- teleport value and time to people who I want to have more time
- accept payment for my business without having to involve legacy financial institutions or state money
- allow value to flow between any human without cutting anyone off via arbitrary state boundaries
- integrate a real money and currency natively into the internet and into other protocols like this one

I think sorting options makes sense, definitely no one right way in all scenarios
influencers gain “customers” via ideas instead of building physical or digital products. there is a lower bar to entry here, as it takes very little work to become a thinkboi.
Another thing influencers can do is invest in companies and people who build stuff, this is a co-adaptive situation where the company gains the benefit of adoption via the influencers and the influencers get paid from the growth of said company.
I feel like this adds a lot of fakeness to certain online interactions, and I don’t want that to do things like that. I have very much enjoyed just talking with users directly, building stuff that they ask for, just being open and real. Maybe I can build a successful product this way, maybe thats too naive.

“X viewed your profile” is an incredibly creepy pattern, especially when you can’t turn it off. Engineers and people building apps have accepted surveillance and abandoned privacy so thoughtlessly. They don’t even consider the negative implications of their actions.

Imagine walking into a store and there are 50 different cameras pointed at you from all possible directions monitoring your every move, used to collect data on what sells more products based on every action you make. People would be freaked out.
This is effectly what most apps do today, except the cameras are invisible. This would likely be illegal in meatspace, but few think about it when on their phone. Why would they? They hide it from you. Fuck in-app analytics.

We need to fix lightning UX before zapping will be successful, and custodial wallets is not the solution. The reliability of custodial lightning has been going down.
