I’ve noticed that I don’t want to zap podcasts who have sponsor spots in the middle of the show.

I know it’s not fair or rational even - they need to make something for their work, but somehow it feels like betrayal. They are getting around ad blocking and putting sponsor spots at the beginning because they know you’ll just skip the first few minutes. This really sucks. But maybe I suck more for complaining about it 🤷‍♂️

V4v is clearly not there yet and they need the ad spots but I wish they kept them in the beginning so I could skip them 😂

The worst is when the host pretends like it’s a good product by having used it a few times and then lying about it being the thing they use regularly. Why do this? Just say I tried it and it seems ok… 😂 and leave it at that. Don’t lie.

Definitely! 💯 I think I’d include that in my idea of what #value4value really is. Rather than pirating I can now support directly the people who produce the goods, services, and software that I use in my daily life. This is the 180° turnaround that #v4v and open source enables.

And pirating / torrents ... I've always felt that hurts the artists / developers...and those are the folks that really should be compensated for their talents!

just been trying to install zorin (ubuntu fork) on my now wireless network free ideapad 3 laptop, and the fucker stalled the installation because of the default fucking sleep in the power settings

have to "try" mode and disable the fucking auto sleep to actually make this DVD based installation work

i have always hated ubuntu installer, in general, but also hate the default power retarded settings, and here we are, it's wasting my time, got like 80% done and then "oh, we turned off the boot device, oopsie"

Sigh...I do feel your pain. While I love Linux, it's the "little" things like this that keep it from being more widely adopted...

Which tires are you buying?

Don't know yet...will see what the dealer might have on sale. Likely to just get replacements for the original equipment tires I have (worked well, good on the highway, not a lot of road noise and good mileage). BUT - maybe there's something better...

I am the absolute worst #value4value target audience. I am a ridiculously cheap bastard and really hate to spend money. Like ever. I have never paid for subscriptions, I won’t pay for Netflix, or twitter. No cable TV. Won’t pay for Spotify. I torrent music and films and use pirated software instead of paying.

I gladly donate to nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 more than I’d would ever have let my old fiat bank claw from my grubby fingers in bank fees. I pay for relays, I zap plebs when they make me laugh, or think… or when they post particularly cute cat pictures. I’m willing to pay more for quality wares sold for #bitcoin.

You should look at open source (rather than pirated software). Cheap is fine, but Linux helps your conscience sleep better at night! 😃

Seems every mouse I've purchased for the last couple of years only lasts maybe a few months before the scroll wheel becomes useless.

Best Roast Beef ever--

Oven to 500 F

Roast at room temp

Put on rack in roasting pan FAT SIDE UP uncovered

Cook 5 min per pound at 500

Turn off oven - DO NOT OPEN OVEN

Let it sit in closed oven for 2 hours

NOTE: if you have a convection oven with a fan this won't work--the fan will cool the oven too quickly for this to work.

We had 4’ waves lapping the pilings of our house, if we hadn’t moved my car to higher ground, it would have been totaled just from the storm surge water. I could go on. Suffice it to say, it was a slow-motion disaster, and we didn’t experience much damage relative to others in the area.

I honestly don't know how folks who live in Florida do it--I'd be an emotional wreck each year worrying about all the hurricaines...

Just feel like you're rolling the dice with each one...most of the time you're ok, but occasionally you roll snake eyes...
