I was thinking about this after my post haha. It's kind of an awkward angle that could hurt toe if you were clueless

*Star Wars* is often viewed as a myth of rebellion, freedom, and resistance to tyranny. The iconography—scrappy rebels, totalitarian stormtroopers, lone smugglers—suggests a deep anti-authoritarian ethos. Yet, beneath the surface, the narrative arc of *Star Wars* consistently affirms the necessity, even sanctity, of central authority. This blog entry introduces the question: **Is *Star Wars* fundamentally a celebration of statism?**

---

## Rebellion as Restoration, Not Revolution

The Rebel Alliance’s mission is not to dismantle centralized power, but to **restore the Galactic Republic**—a bureaucratic, centrally governed institution. Characters like Mon Mothma and Bail Organa are high-ranking senators, not populist revolutionaries. The goal is to remove the corrupt Empire and reinstall a previous central authority, presumed to be just.

- **Rebels are loyalists** to a prior state structure.

- **Power is not questioned**, only who wields it.

---

## Jedi as Centralized Moral Elites

The Jedi, often idealized as protectors of peace, are unelected, extra-legal enforcers of moral and military order. Their authority stems from esoteric metaphysical abilities rather than democratic legitimacy.

- They answer only to their internal Council.

- They are deployed by the Senate, but act independently of civil law.

- Their collapse is depicted as tragic not because they were unaccountable, but because they were *betrayed*.

This positions them as a **theocratic elite**, not spiritual anarchists.

---

## Chaos and the Frontier: The Case of the Cantina

The Mos Eisley cantina, often viewed as a symbol of frontier freedom, reveals something darker. It is:

- Lawless

- Violent

- Culturally fragmented

Conflict resolution occurs through murder, not mediation. Obi-Wan slices off a limb; Han shoots first—both without legal consequence. There is no evidence of property rights, dispute resolution, or voluntary order.

This is **not libertarian pluralism**—it’s moral entropy. The message: **without centralized governance, barbarism reigns**.

---

## The Mythic Arc: Restoration of the Just State

Every trilogy in the saga returns to a single theme: the fall and redemption of legitimate authority.

1. **Prequels**: Republic collapses into tyranny.

2. **Originals**: Rebels fight to restore legitimate order.

3. **Sequels**: Weak governance leads to resurgence of authoritarianism; heroes must reestablish moral centralism.

The story is not anti-state—it’s anti-**bad** state. The solution is never decentralization; it’s the return of the *right* ruler or order.

---

## Conclusion: The Hidden Statism of a Rebel Myth

*Star Wars* wears the costume of rebellion, but tells the story of centralized salvation. It:

- Validates elite moral authority (Jedi)

- Romanticizes restoration of fallen governments (Republic)

- Portrays decentralized zones as corrupt and savage (outer rim worlds)

It is not an anarchist parable, nor a libertarian fable. It is a **statist mythology**, clothed in the spectacle of rebellion. Its core message is not that power should be abolished, but that **power belongs to the virtuous few**.

---

**Question to Consider:**

If the *Star Wars* universe consistently affirms the need for centralized moral and political authority, should we continue to see it as a myth of freedom? Or is it time to recognize it as a narrative of benevolent empire?

Funny, I've always been bothered by this, though hadn't fleshed it out nearly this deep

Going good. Dog walked, coffee made...just doing the dew

I bury it deep deep down.

It must be a reality vs perception thing, cuz in so many gang fight videos I've seen, I always feel this way. Like when people are kicking a downed person in a group (terrible, I know), the kicks look weak af lots of the time.

Pahmp it. Leg day tonight for me. Moon soon guaranteed

It's a dense book, which I'd definitely have to read again before blabbering further, but the section addresses a lot of common objections very well and left me convinced it made sense.

Yeah no worries. Just thought I might have read a good reply to your point recently so decided to share. It's pretty solid definition, and book I read would supply one with very solid defense of it from first principles. I don't know them well enough myself to elaborate much, but I found them convincing

I lack the vernacular lol

Good to know. Yes, I'm a big fan of polyrhythms

Maybe it's just me, but the different rhythms sliding against each other (near that middle part especially, where the gay woozy sounds go out) was blowing my mind yesterday lol.

the fiat propaganda FUD machine is so good.

my friends come to me with the latest story of how crypto degenerates kidnap and torture each other in Manhattan luxury apartments for the "password to their Bitcoin account" (look it up today) but they never tell me of the story they read about how good people stay humble, stack sats and sell high quality honey, pecan products, soap, jerky, and art, and produce great podcasts and permaculture advice.

Have Fun Staying Propagandized!

Best part of understanding bitcoin is seeing how others contort their thinking to dismiss it

Wonder if I followed you lol. Assume a diff handle.

Stack chain still around I think, a good number of the usual suspects too, but clearly a drop in the more recent wave from last cycle. Just doesn't seem to be much real "heat" there. Could be my bias though

Yeah just reminded me of a point you made in our discussion of light, with a particularly nice illustration. Have def seen strange shadow effects from certain lamps before, that I assume were led

You know, I knew about bitcoin in the very early days. Not pizza day early, but not long after. I didn't buy any for many years... I just watched the news and wished I had acted for a long time.

I often ask myself why I didn't act. My excuses are thus:

1. I had very little money. I started my 1st 'career' in 2010, and was probably 2 or 3 years into the job when I first heard of bitcoin. Bitcoin was pretty cheap still though, so it's not a perfect excuse.

2. I had zero friends with any knowledge on the. subject. It would have been very nice to have been shown the ropes. Unfortunately, my bitcoin journey has been a very lonely one. 🤷‍♂️ I think this is a more valid excuse; For better or worse, I'm a very socially motivated person.

3. It took a long time, watching cycles to feel comfortable with the ebb and flow of the market. Booms and crashes were little more than exciting headlines at first, but following the news without skin in the game helped me feel better about my eventual first purchase.

4. In 2016 I attempted to create my 1st bitcoin wallet. I remember that I was really confused by the passphrase I needed to store. It seems silly now, but I actually never finished setting up the wallet because thus stage seemed so foreign to me.

5. When I finally bought crypto for the first time it was 2017, and it wasn't bitcoin! Bitcoin started to get really expensive (it was $20k by 2018) and new cheaper coins like TRX and XRP had hit the market. The thinking at the time was: If bitcoin did it, these shitcoins might too! 🤣

6. I made good money buying/selling shitcoins for a while (small time money, but large percentage gains). Unfortunately, his reinforced my shitcoin habit and kept me from purchasing bitcoin. Crypto became synonymous with quick action and hodling was anathema to squeezing a quick buck out of this phenomena.

So... those are my excuses. Looking back on my life, Bitcoin represents the best chance I ever had to be truly wealthy. If I had acted on my gut when I first took interest in it, I would live in a mansion on a tropical island now. C'est la vi.

As has been said before, everyone gets bitcoin at the price they deserve. Carry on.

These are all very relatable reasons. First friend who told me about it really didn't know what he was talking about, so I quickly dismissed him (he's a shitcoiner now, and not rich by any stretch lol).

Watched headlines too. Felt smart when it crashed.

Came around eventually 🥲

I figured with a thirst-trap name like YarnLady you'd be single! 😂

That's cool 🥰

Are you and mre a couple/married? Don't think I was aware

I took the quiz and was recommended the same one you've got. The difference seems to be drinking coffee at home vs on the go. But good to know. Bookmarking for holiday season

See linked note for relation to Rand, and the OP for actual advice on technique. I don't personally do it, except the rare time I think about it. Sposed to work tho
