sure, it’s common in traditional banking because that system is built on trust and there is customer service to undo fuck ups.
fwiw, i don’t think it’s a bad idea. but i think people are (understandably) hesitant at the idea of their wallet automatically initiating transactions without them confirming it
i think most people are uncomfortable with the idea of a wallet doing anything “automatically “ with them at least confirming it
“but i don’t know how to code”
okay, learn. help build the world you want to live in rather than sit around and complain that other people aren’t doing it fast enough or not doing it the way you like.
friendly reminder that nostr is open source , and your favourite client is also probably open source.
PRs are always preferred over complaints or requests for new features.
for most people, this requires a shift in your thinking.
we’ve grown accustomed to using free software without ever giving back because we were in fact the product. kinda how pigs never question why the farmer never charges them for the feed
PRs welcome: https://github.com/damus-io/damus
and probably sufficient
don’t get me wrong- i also love what #[1] is doing (also an interim solution with different trade-offs!)
still baffles me how so many people shit on muun as being “bad for bitcoin” while using custodial lightning wallets and recommending noobs do the same.
muun’s approach will get priced out eventually and they know this and are building for that scenario.
what they’ve done is an interim approach, making (imo) acceptable trade-offs
treat yo self

lol anecdote is the wrong word, but you get the idea 😅
i struggle with this constantly. best anecdote i’ve found is anytime i hear about something interesting, put it on a list for later and move on. often times, i go back to review these lists and find that i’m no longer interested in at least half the topics
in the video you posted, that’s an on-chain bitcoin address, not lightning. twitter does allow this, even though it’s a horrible idea. posting a static address for tip jars is terrible for privacy as anyone can look up the address from your profile and see how many times and how much you’ve been tipped
yeah, also didn’t see any mention of this in their docs and have never encountered it in the wild, so inclined to call bullshit
news to me! when did they add this? originally, it was just the strike api, or you could post a static bitcoin address
no, they did not. they integrated the strike api, which is a kyc’d, geo-restricted company. it’s a walled garden on top of the lightning network
“bruh, did you see my reply”
“nah fam, fees be crazy, it probably got evicted”
it’s amazing to be able to express appreciation with real money, instantly without friction
